Hi, and greeting from Texas . My son is looking to go to school as far away as he can from us or so it seams. Does anyone have any suggestions on pros and cons about the school and or cost of living in Canterbury.

I know nothing about the school itself but Canterbury is a nice enough place with good links to London and the continent. Canterbury is an historic place which means a certain amount of charm, but it also means driving through (or really around it) is painfully slow at times.
As with most places in the South East of England, if they have good links to London they can be pricey, although I think Canterbury is just about far enough away so isn't really a commuter town so prices will be somewhere near the UK average - although that may well make them well above US prices.
I'm sure there are cost of living websites that you can access to get a better idea.

Hi Elliott, that's my old university... back in the late 70's.
It's on the top of a very windy hill and there is a long (and steep) walk down to the town. Canterbury it's self is is a small place with little to do, very quaint for a visit, but you'd soon get bored. It's also a long way from "civilization" ie, London.
I now live in Reading which has a large and beautiful campus and a HUGE student population, with plenty of entertainment (from what I can see through my old eyes). It's only a 30min train ride to London, and our station is a main hub to get anywhere in the country with ease.
If he can get to Oxford/Cambridge then bend over backwards to do it. They have everything a student could want, plus a kudos that will last a lifetime. Don't forget, he'll be making life-long friends there, and maybe meeting his future wife, so it's worth shopping for the best

Thanks you for your comments. Looks like he is still searching out schools and places to go, but he definitely wants to go somewhere over there as in the UK or EU.
