Hiya Gyp, this may make you change your mind
http://metal-detector-review.toptenreviews.com/

You already have one of the best for the money, though perhaps the Euro Ace may be slightly better. I had (have) the Ace 250 then upgraded to the euro ace, I just felt it was better, although I haven't found any more with it.
Unfortunately detectors work on the principle of diminishing returns, you get a lot for the initial outlay but after that you get less and less for your money.
I deliberately refuse to upgrade now, for the time being at least, because I can go back over an area I've done and still find stuff. To me that means the detector is still better than me

If you're determined to upgrade have a word with these chaps http://regton.com/metal-detectors.html they're known for not ripping you off or giving wrong advice just to make a profit. They seem to work on keeping customers happy and having return business

I haven't been out so far this year, severn trent stopped all detecting on their land so I lost my main pitch  Might have a wander about shortly and find a new area.

Cheers Rod, I've been looking for something that will work on wet sand as we do a lot of wild camping near the coast, will the euro ace do that?
I've not been out a great deal, I've found plenty of old pennies, lots of £££ on the dry sand at the beach an a musket ball and 2 silver sixpences

Euro Ace will do it but there's better. I would speak to Regtons and tell him what you want to do. Give him some idea , such as, 80% inland and 20% beach (or whatever), then he'll know what to recommend. Or, keep the Ace for inland and buy a dedicated beach detector ? That would be the ideal way.

I'm reading that the Ace is no good on wet sand?

Just looking at the Garrett AT Pro international, any thoughts on this one Rod?

I think you'll find to be "good" on wet sand you will either need two detectors or a variable frequency one. Bit out of my depth now as we don't have many beaches in the Black Country, no shortage of tow paths by the cut but no beaches
