introduction and my home brew spotter

big hello to every one,have enjoyed reading every ones posts.particarly like how every one shares there ideas.so thought it only right to share with you one of my creations.Had realised alot of people building there spotters into project boxs,when it came to me there was already an ideal housing cheaply available.so if i get this right(not to sharp with the computer thing)hopefully heres some pics of my spotter build.
This is my unhoused prototype.

Challange now is to put every thing into here.

The usual cheap 4800mah litho battery set into place.

Then with a few beers for insperation and head scratching,find a home for the rest.

Eventualy it all come together and actualy worked.




this is just out back of my house.when out field trialing could easily detect out as far as 300 yards.

Hope ya's like my use of the spot light housing.it's all been possible due to the openess and information sharing avalible on this site.have learnt alot.many thanks to ya all.

ps,would have done a video,but at mo am getting interference on angle eye,cant be asked to open it up again.just enjoying using it.

Thank you for the positive replies,all appreciated.
Did try the 5-100mm lense that a friend supplied,managed to incorperate adjustable levers for the focus and zoom.
Unfortunatly was not up to the job.the view was poor,can only think the lense had a ir coating on it.

The yukon lense works well,but i'm tempted to buy the 5-100mm stockoptics lense on flea bay:111195158934,
Seeing that i have allready got the slots to take the adjustable levers.i know theres been talk of one from stockoptics.
Has any one tried this lense,dont wana get another ir blocked one,when money could go to next build.

IR anti reflective lens coatings are best for NV camera lenses.. as opposed to IR cut filters in our dark world. That Stock Optics 5-100 doesn't mention any coatings so it's doubtful they will have that asset. They do sell a 6-60 one with IR coatings, and that is usually enough for a spotter.

BTW - I am pleased to observe you are a true Blue Peter man with the subtle use of corrugated cardboard in that fine build.

Im sorry some bloke, I see wat you see know.Thats how my litho battery's were supplied.Apart from the blue shrink rap removed.Like to check wats inside, considering the influx of dodgy wiring and packing out of a battery thats ment to be a said size.Gota say this battery has been going strong know for good couple years and weighs twice as much as any resent purchased one.i should have take photos of last battery's. They were packed out with a foam substance.the batterys only filled 3/4 of overall volume.
Ps, They must have loved blue peter in the far east.lol
