I was watching one tonight that wasnt bothered with the IR but ran like f*ck when I tried calling it in, I guess I need to perfect me technique lol

No, 90% aren't really bothered by IR illumination at all. This one has seen a bit of action but I didn't know exactly where it was going to appear so was a afraid to take the dedicated in case a longer shot was required. As it happened it was, I could see the bright hot heat source on a track about 250-300m away so watched with the thermal as it walked along the track and was 90% it was a fox so lay down under the trees at the edge of the field with the wind in my face. Checked again with the thermal and it was working a fern breast totally oblivious to me so now 99% it was Charlie. It was hazy here last night so took my newly purchased torch and a laser to see what cut through the haze better. My battery had ran out on the torch earlier so I switched on the laser, Charlie looks straight at me and before I could zoom in and 100% ID, the next thing gone. I knew there was a dry gutter right behind the fox so switched back to the thermal and caught a flash of him about 100yrds further on just going out of sight. No call, squeak or anything was going to stop this one either but as I know where its residing I'll go back and wait with the dedicated and no IR. That's the fun of foxing, they aren't all stupid enough to run to your feet with a call and often take a bit of out foxing to get the 'tricky' ones. This is why I like using as little IR as possible though as yes lots of it gives a lovely bright picture but its of no use if there's nothing in it to shoot at..
