Right then....
I have bought and am still waiting for the Photon from SC (as everyone else is) and need an IR to go with it. I am told that Marky is the chap to talk to and that he has something along those lines. Also, a doubler ?? All new to me but am told its worth having.

Am I right and how do I go about getting said items ??

Roger, simply contact Mark via the forum. Find one of his posts and select 'email'.

I think that the doublers are still in the pipeline, but he can sort you out with the necessary.

Great news. I will sort that out today and get that ordered. So the "doubler" Whats the goss with that ?? are they expensive , are they easy to fit ? Will it make a massive difference do you think ??

Thanks for the info by the way .

Doubler is a lens that goes in front of the front lens on a scope, they multiply the magnification, but make the scope longer.
Yukon make them for their NVRS line of scopes. Marky610 has modified one to fit the Photon, its actually a 1.7 power, so the Photon ends up as 8.25 power. He's also playing with a larger magnification doubler at the moment. No pricing or availability yet, as he says at the bottom of each of his posts: "Watch this space".
Marky will modify the T20 torch to IR with a new LED & driver. He also makes battery extensions for extended operating life. He has a thread in the sales section. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3678
http://www.youtube.com/user/Marky610 is his channel. There is a review of the Photon and a review of the Photon fitted with Doubler & T20.
The T20 operates off an 18650 battery, you will need batteries and a charger. http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/ is the recommended source.
Some Bloke modifies Ultrafire 501B torches including new lens and copper heat sinks. He has an add with pic under each of his posts, look at the top of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3719

Dunno? Buy both and post a comparison for the rest of us? :)

Realistically, the T20 is probably the better unit with a longer throw. The Ultrafire and a drop in IR led can be bought for cheap off Ebay. Some Blokes mods appear to be aimed at continuous use as a red lamp, instead of a whacking great 170mm unit.

My completely non professional guess?
Air rifle or .22lr? Ultrafire if you want to save a few quid. .17hmr or centerfire? T20.
If you haven't got a dedicated spotter then consider getting one, IDing targets in the dark by pointing a gun at them is rude. You occasionally encounter people enjoying nocturnal pursuits. They may not present eye shine, but 'moon shine' is a distinct possibility.

Its either going to go on my Lantac or Remmi .223 or maybe even .243. not sure as yet . I dont want to be shooting out to ridiculous distance , maybe 200-250 yards max. I hear that with the doubler this can be done with ease, so need IR for that distance. I reckon the T20 sounds like the thing for me. I will have a look. I guess someone had a pic of them size wise ??
