Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and hoping someone would be kind enough to give me a few pointers?
I'm looking at putting a camera onto my lightforce roof mounted lamp with ir filter on. Would this do the trick? http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700pub-16b ... c-internal and could I wire it straight up to a monitor in the cab?

Hi Gary,

The camera is fine but you'll be needing a longer lens, 50mm minimum for spotting. Job to find in M12. Better off adding a c mount adapter and using a c mount lens.

Hi Gary - welcome to the forum.

Try and avoid adapting the M12 to C mount with an adaptor that screws into the the neck of the E700 because it restricts light from reaching the corners or edges of the sensor - depending on what type of C mount lens you use and how big the rear lens is. The E700 neck will need cropping back whichever method you use to mount it because it is designed for the board camera lenses it is supplied with and you won't get other lenses to focus correctly.

I'm not trying to get you to buy one of my E700/C mount adaptors because I'm out of stock for possibly a few weeks if my supplier behaves normally lol. 'Jirka' on here has an alternative C mount adaptor that can be fitted to a box - or I have some bigger E700/M42 SLR lens adaptors that fit to a box.

Thanks some bloke, I've used night vision for years but I'm new to home builds and struggling to get my head around it. (Not very technical)
Is there anything on the market that I could attach straight to my roof lamp and wire it up to a screen with out having to fiddle on and possibly not getting it right?

You only have to chop 5mm off the end of the E700 housing and add a c mount adapter, not the end of the world.

I dont know of a ready made solution but fluff up a cushion and get stuck into the DIY section for ideas. Go back a few months because there has been lots of spotter stuff going on that you can mix and match parts of to suit your needs, abilities and budget.

Your already well on the way with a brilliant camera so it looks like you're prudent enough to be not looking for the cheapest performing gear.
