That about sums him up  I didn't insult him in public, I too think that's wrong, you don't do your washing in public. I did however happen to mention my dislike of them later, that was enough to put me on the hit list.

The only way you'll appease the anti's is by not killing anything, but unfortunately you mustn't use the word kill so infact you can't tell them anything because even denying killing anything must contain the kill word or similar.
In other words why bother with them, in this day and age there's always someone prepared to complain about something, the world is now ruled by the minority, namely the minority with big mouths.
Just get on with it, I'm sick of PC shite.

Actually towards the end he points out what everybody else has missed. You are not trying to convince the anti hunt forum, you are trying to keep the people in the middle who are of no fixed opinion to either stay that way or to come over to your side.

Too simple examples.

I go out to kill animals,
Or
I remove the animals that eat the food that people want to eat.

How about;
Your a txxt and don't know what your talking about
Compared to
I disagree with your opinion.

Lastly.
English soldiers have invaded Afganistan
Or
English Soldiers have gone to Afganistan to assist the government keep the peace.

Those are very simplistic statements and of course the subject is very complex. But the way these sentences are perceived by the less informed makes all the difference. All you have to do is look at things like face book. Statements come out from organisations designed to inflame a situation but it is the way that they are said, leaving out specific information often designed to get loads of people to cry foul.

Lastly consider the statements.
Thousands of animals needlessly slaughtered for sport.
Or
Farmers assisted in their efforts to feed burgeoning population growth with the assistance of sporting organisations.

Which knocks your hobby and which supports it? It is all in a word and how a journalist puts a slant on it.
And that is why I believe he is right. Comments such as "they can go and jog" are presumably designed to make the thread more interesting or put it another way, just bloody stupid.
.it is all in how you phrase it. ;-)

I do see your point Gloopy and very well put it is.
But.
It's all about words and not actions which I do believe is true.
It does make you wonder about the IQ of the audience when words count and actions don't.
If someone came to me and said "Your dog has bitten the postman, therefore it must be terminated". I think I would get the gist that they wanted to KILL it.

what about
Gloop wrote:I kill the animals that eat the food that people want to eat.
its honest, straight up, and not pandering to anyone

now. the big question for me lads....what about enjoyment of killing?

do you....any problem with admitting it?

they are making quite a big deal of it over there. to me its a no brainer, if i didn't enjoy it i wouldn't do it

That is more difficult. For me there is a lot of satisfaction in the whole experience as we all know about, ( having an owl land on a branch two feet above your head was ace). and if you get a good run where they don't run off after the first shot then the excitement builds up. At the same time if I mis shoot and wound something I feel bad.
I am happy to defend what I do face to face with people, I am also happy to listen to their views, especially if they are meat eaters. They don't like be called hypocrites. Lol but that is true. I decided that I wanted to get back into shooting and get my own food as no one has interfered with it because I saw it in the skin and did the whole kill it cook it eat it thing. In all honesty I would probably give up shooting if I turned vegetarian. But that is is unlikely to happen soon.

Again I do not think it is about enjoying or not enjoying. Look at it like this. If you become a soldier you must like murdering people. What's is the difference?

It is perception and of course we all enjoy doing it.
But it is simplistic to say I enjoy killing something.
There is the whole element of it. I mean there has to be something more than squeezing a trigger that made me drive 50 miles to shoot all night and get home at 4.50 in the morning.
Well it was a lovely night to be out wandering the fields last night. I had a hare run past me. I like hares. They are not on my shoot list. I got close to a roe that was lying in the hedge and it was completely unaware of me. There was a lot of satisfaction from the fact that everything went well. All headshots were headshots and all misses, there were a few, were clean misses. I like the challange of what I do because it is more focused with nv as you have to be so much more safety conscious because your view is only what you can see through the scope and spotter.
So a simple yes/no to me doesn't do the subject justice and leaves the door open to people to misinterpret my view and use it against me.
I have never had anyone disagree with me after we have had a conversation about the subject. Mind you maybe it is because they know I have guns.

And I like the toys I get to play with. Oh god do I love the toys.
Someone has bought a new toy. It should turn up at my RFD next week. Whoohoo.

Oh and lastly. Over there you see like many threads they are getting caught up in only one aspect that tries to justify a narrow point with a sentence that is hard to defend.
I like killing things. Well you might as well say I am a monster. You cannot justify one part of what you do with a yes know.
If someone asks me if I could ever kill my missus then the answer would be, frequently. Lol but after 18 years ..........

Gee I am not so used to writing so much. Must have been my afternoon nap that did it.

ok so lets take all that "hunting is an experiance" thing as read

when you pull the trigger and whatever it may be drops like liquid do you enjoy that moment?.
i know i do, and i really cant see how thats something people might find concerning. we are all predators, the best predators in fact...what could be more natural than a predator doing what nature intended?

the above is not aimed just at you declan. and i totally understand if you don't want to be pressed on the issue, this is a world wide public forum after all
