chas wrote:I was making the assumption that it wouldn't be available as I thought it was Pete's permission, I might be wrong.
But under the circumstances I don't think it would be "ethical" to use it(just my feelings on the matter) although as you say it was a decent spot albeit lacking in longer ranges and a certain amount of ambient light about.
Maybe someone could clarify matters.
The little Bas@:rd never worries about nicking anyone else's permission as i know to my cost

So, up to now, Rick's volunteered to find a venue. Anyone else in the area that's mentioned?

Might be a good idea if those who haven't added addys and are up for a NV meet did so,up to the individual members but would help us sort a venue that's fair to all.
I have a great place near me a golf course, but think it will prob have to be northern territory as most members seem to be up there.

Geoff

ps we could always have two ;)

Just goggled aston fisheries and it's 131mile/2.5hours up the M1 for me..

But the downside as with the previous meets is that I'll be beating (and knackered and hungry) or loading (pub lunch) during the day so that puts a bit of pressure on me to be there at a decent time. Hey ho....

George... one thing springs to mind on your suggested 10th November date would be to check the venue hasn't got a bonfire night/fireworks display on the same night. You never know... ;) (Vested interest for me... closet pyromaniac! Just another of my 'hobbies' .. the biggest shell I've ever set up... a 16" thumper on an Edinburgh Castle Hogmanay about 10 years ago  )

If you're looking for a good venue, My advice is speak to the shops.

The shop owners and staff generally have some of the best permissions in their area, and I'd wager if you invited them along to try sell some pellets, torches and NV gear they would be happy to oblige, if you could promise the numbers.

I organise, and am currently in the process of organising demo evenings for NiteSite and honestly, the shop's are always keen to help out shooters, especially for events where new potential customers and sales are.

Good luck with organising the event, I have been invited to and attended two organised by forum members and both were fantastic opportunities to meet like-minded shooters and show off your gear!

We had quite a few from well south turn up at mine. They might struggle with the extra milage and costs.
Aside from the fact I am a lazy sod I think we would be better with at least 2 meets. More people spread out.
We had about 25 people turn up from down here and as that was the first one I thought that was a good start.

Well I think that is what we are trying to decide, either 1 big one or a few smaller ones. I have somewhere near me, as does Geoff.
Depends on what the membership wants. Should we have a poll?
