One thing's for sure, Chas, this is one person that won't be attending if it's hosted by you know who.
That was a good location though. Is that not available any more then?

I was making the assumption that it wouldn't be available as I thought it was Pete's permission, I might be wrong.
But under the circumstances I don't think it would be "ethical" to use it(just my feelings on the matter) although as you say it was a decent spot albeit lacking in longer ranges and a certain amount of ambient light about.
Maybe someone could clarify matters.

Bugger! My 'mind' immediately thought of the Antarctic and penguins in their thermals!Nite Owl wrote:

But please not so far south that it's further than the north was..

To be realistic, it would either have to be in the middle (geography never was my strong point), or, one in the north and one in the south.
It would be nice if we could organise one meeting only, in the middle. It would be good to put faces to names
. Yes, it would mean that lots of us would have to travel and possibly even stop over (maybe get a good deal on accomodation if there were a few of us) which would mean that a sociable little drink could be on the cards.
Same format, in as much as we all bring our gear along for a show and tell. Maybe even get one or two manufacturers/distributors to attend with their wares.
What do you reckon? I'd be up for it, but what would you think to the expense? Too much?

I would be up for it. 2 ways to go really. A few spread out round ther country. One up north and one down south. Or 1 big one. Location is always the problem. Some where with a travellodge or similiar near by. A pub for after?
The problem I had was too much illumination from too many bits of kit. So one big meet might be a problem. But if the land was set up correctly you could remove a lot of those problems. A wood with gaps and pretend foxes and rabbits set out at different distances and along a path. I have some ideas but need to get the right spot.
Like anything how far would we want to go because we could invite a few manufacturers to come and give a talk about how it works and the future........ if anybody was interested.
Personally i think a few events over the country would be better than 1 big one. With a bit of clever marketing we could get a lot of interest as we now have so many manufacturers on the site who would be interested in promoting it I bet.

Would have thought (well, looked at a map
) that somewhere twixt Nottingham and Leicester would be in the middle. Yes?
That would be about 170 miles for me, so, I'd probably stay over and have a bevvy
So, how far would that be for everyone else and would anyone near to that have a suitable venue?
Please let's have your thoughts on this.

Re: Winter NV meeting for the forum.
I also had the ruler out on Google Earth and reached a similar conclusion that just north of Nottingham was about as central as you'd get.
The only problem would be driving home, after some sod had made off with your wheels over night.
Aston isn't a bad spot and Rick says it's now even better, but a long haul for the more southerly lads.
There's time to chew on it (slight change of direction) but it is difficult to know where folk are from with hardly anybody putting locations on their profile, make it compulsory.
I'd be up for an overnighter, dates etc permitting.
