bit out of left field this lads. but since we do a fair bit of importing on here i thought i'd ask

i'v just bought an arlen ness motorbike fairing from america its worth about 200 dollers. does anyone know how much in import charges i'm likely to get stung for....or how i can work it out?

its coming via DHL so i'm almost certainly gonna cop for it

I used to know how much it cost as I did consider importing a hardly rideable a number of years ago but then saw sense. Snigger.

i get some stick for my jap cruisers off the hardly lads. but i'v got enough tinkering to do running a 40 year old land rover. with the bikes the only tinkering i enjoy is modding. i just wanna ride it, clean it, and service it

Yeah well we have a 30 year old TR1 and it is still on the road. Mind you it has been rebuilt at least 3 times. Got to get the mustang tank off and clean it and reseal it with petseal. Buggered it up last time. But took it for a 500 mile trip last year. Got a problem with the speedo as the angle of the cable keeps breaking cos the speedo is mounted onto the tank now. Satnav sorted that for the moment. But with a bit of tlc it should do another 10 years and she has said it ain't being sold even though she picked up an 1100 slagstar this year. Well she has owned it for 20 years now even though I put more miles on it than she does. Hurrah for me.

I am not into building, just riding, as ever I do not have the time or space. All being well I will be doing a lot more mileage on the bikes next year. It will be back to being my main mode of transport to and from work.

don't see too many tr1's about over here declan. good old bikes though, remember "chrome don't get ya home"

just worked it out. i'v had bikes (on the road,did motocross as a lad) for 15 years now, not bad considering i'm 32

i'm not a sctratch builder. just a modder...i cant leave anything standard for too long lol
