Do you regularly practice Standing shots on and offsticks, right down through to Prone ?
The reason I ask is that a couple of recent shots have required some quick body positioning, because sticks would have been too slow to set up or, I just didn't have sticks on me.

H. I used to make and sell shooting sticks when I was an RFD. they were made from Fox extendable poles for something to do with fishing. I made them and never really used them. I gave Bruce the very first ones that I ever made. Did he not leave the here along with lots of other things that he was meant to be taking home with him. It was a quick depart. I think he had the runs from the wife's cooking. 
target stock model, weighs a bloody ton. I couldn't be bothered carrying sticks as well as the cannon.
Most of my shooting on the farm here was done sitting into a banking with me almost lying back. The Sika Deer were 150y below me. It is a very comfortable position to shoot. I do prone shooting when evr the terrain permits.
Are you writing a bloody book or something.

No mate, just trying to spark some thought and conversation - call it a running series of threads.
I'm interested in how people think and do things differently to achieve the same results, how people think in general.
Along the way I'd like to think it gets the old grey matter churning, it all adds to the fun and banter and boosts site figures too.

I use quad sticks most of the time. I started with a monopod, and graduated to a bipod and then tripod, till I finally ended up with the quad sticks. Most of the land I shoot. Is flat and open, and last year were wet and muddy, so sitting and prone weren't the best options.
With the bipod and tripod I could head and neck shoot the bunnies to about 75 yards. With the quad sticks it was headshot at 100 yards. And as everything is a night I usually have time to set up.
But I have been trying to better the design for months. Finally managed to suss out the hinge and currently making a new set amongst the million and one other things I need to do.
I think with the number of rounds I have put through the rifles now I am a lot better, confident and that makes the difference. I can concentrate on the shot because everything comes natural, mostly.
But if you need to get a shot off quick then you need to do something different.
