Hi,
I just took delivery of a Pulsar Challenger GS. I also have a Yukon 5x42. The Pulsar has really "wowed" me. The image quality is just fantastic and with the Day Scope Adapter it will be great for getting the rat numbers under control.
I have been reading the threads on high power IR with great interest and have purchased some of the Olson 1W IR LEDs. I intend making a great IR illuminator using a torch body.
I hope to be able to bring to the forum a knowledge of electronics and programming. I also own a 3D printer so can run off prototypes .. so if you have an idea; just let me know.

Those 3D printers intrigue me. What would be the approximate all-up cost for, let's say, something along the lines of a day scope adaptor, please? Is it the materials that are expensive? I'm aware that the initial outlay of the machine must be considerable.

Hello fella welcome from another taunton lad those 3d printers look awesome from what I've seen on the telly how sturdy is th stuff they produce? And I've had a bit of cad time what's the programming like for them?

I bought my 3D printer in kit form, www.reprappro.com. It is a Mendel machine and costs around £500. You can print in 2 main materials PLA and ABS. ABS is what lego is made from and so is tough and flexible. PLA is harder but more brittle.
A day scope adapter would cost around £3 in materials to make (maybe less). Once you have a design then it is very easy to produce. The design can be done in many packages and these are mostly free. Google Sketchup is very good (and Free) and OpenSCAD is also free and works with a scripting language so you can produce very precise technical models.
The quality that the 3D printer can produce is really excellent. WIth an accuracy of 0.1mm and the ability to produce very complex designs which can include screw holes in any orientation; a DSA would be no problem at all. The resulting DSA would be as study as the ones you buy. It would also be ideal for producing things like a battery compartment end piece so that you can put a switch onto an IR unit etc, or a custom clamp to mount a home made IR unit onto a scope.

Sounds like a great piece of kit.
You should make your own dsa, have you seen the cost of some of them.
