New Member Intro
Hello guys, just an introduction.
Have been put in a situation where I seriously need to consider night vision to control the rabbits which are stripping the lower bark from fruit trees at an orchard permission, as well as scraping out new burrows along the walkways. These bunnies are 'very' wary, and are extremely lamp shy (any colour) and get hunted by rims and centrefires. I myself am on an air rifle HW100ks .22, and these things spot you at 100 yards, so air rifle pickings are quite slim. You can catch them unawares on occasion, but get more chances with an air rifle by getting plotted up and covering a warren. Anyways, I believe I shall enjoy gleaning NV info on here before arriving at a decision on how to progress.

Hiya some bloke, yep, that's what I'm here for.
I've already had a go at plotting up and lamping those bunnies, using a LEDray GL2 with a red filter and the sequence goes:- wait 10 mins, lamp on for a few seconds to see if any have ventured out, 3 or 4 bunnies, turn lamp off and shoulder the rifle, turn the lamp on and... no bunnies

Sounds like you need either a tubed dedicated NV rifle scope, or a digital dedicated rifle scope.
I say that because "dedicated or scopeless" as they have become known as very rarely need artificial light for air rifle ranges. Sure there will be an odd night or two when a small amount of very low power light will be needed but as a rule of thumb you will not need to emit any light at all. You probably already know of tubed gen 1 etc devices but possibly don't know of DIY scopeless devices, there are a few examples on here and things are still developing on that aspect.
A search of the term "scopeless" on here will bring forth some very useful recent topics but here's a couple to be going on with that I can link to by memory of the thread titles:

Any questions on those rigs are best asked on the relevant thread.

Hartshot, I didn't actually star in any Batman movies, but my mouth was used as a stand-in stunt double for the entrance to the Batcave
some bloke, that is some very impressive stuff. Thanks for posting those links. It looks quite expensive, but I will keep an open mind until I've got my head around it all. I am retired, so plenty of time for me to evaluate (I hope), but limits the budget a bit.
