New to night vision

Hi,I am new to the forum and new to night vision.The wife bought me a nice gift ,a sightmark wraith 4k. I want to upgrade the ir and have a couple of dereelight xsearcher red and white . My question is are the ir pills still available for these torches as I can't seem to find an ir pill,led for this model . Are their any other pills from another manufacturer that will interchange with the orignal. The ir that came with the wrath is not to bad but burns through those little cr123A battery's so an upgrade is on the cards. Any how thanks for letting me join the form and I hope to learn a bit about nightvision. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
The goods news is that you've come to the right place for information.
The bad news is that you deerelight X searcher is not going to be much use with the Wraith 4k
You need an IR illuminator that uses a laser - known as a vcsel

Both of these illuminators run on a single 18650 rechargeable battery.
Do not buy 18650 batteries on E bay unless you know and trust the seller
I'd recommend Ecolux shop, Fogstar and Torchy the battery boy as reliable sellers of genuine batteries such as Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sony,etc
Avoid any battery with "fire" in its name such as Ultrafire
Get batteries with a capacity around 3400-3500mah and a decent charger such as Nitecore, XTar, Liito Kala.

Thanks Bruce for all that information . The first laser in the link,would it get me a couple hundred yards fox shooting and will the picatinny mount that comes standard with wraith be suitable for mounting that laser.

I've never used a Wraith 4k so can't say how good the image at 200 yards would be with the cheaper IR.
Personally, I'd bite the bullet and buy the more expensive one.
The illuminators in my links all have 25mm diameter bodies, so it may be that the mount for the IR supplied with the Wraith can be used.
If not, you'll need some sort of adjustable mount so that the IR beam can be aligned with the centre of the Wraiths' field of view.
My personal choice for an adjustable mount is a Burris Signature Zee ring, but you have to buy a pair!

Jeffo, I had a look at that Sirius xtl on YouTube video and it does look very good. How many hours of battery life are you getting with it. At the moment I am using the wraith for spotting as well until I get something reasonably priced for the job " if anybody could give me an idea of a inexpensive spotter "so it's hard on the batteries for now.

Definitely go for the bigger laser

For a Good cheap spotter look at the pard 019 (is it 019 lads?) Somebody will correct me if I've got the numbers wrong.
Often come up used and a wanted add might get results too. Never used one myself but they seem decent for the money

I can get all night out of 1 battery but always carry a spare, as I spot with a thermal, and it's only put on to take a shot, hope this helps
