Post by cbrdave » 09 Feb 2013, 20:12

Just joined, thought it polite to say hello, names Dave, mechanical/machine engineer by trade but currently working as a bedroom fitter for Sharps, been interested in making my own scope mounted night vision on a small budget, just got a huge rabbit shoot so will be scouring this sight for hints and tips so i can get my build done and get testing and bagging some bunnies for the table

You could try using 2 upside down scope clamps and a length of weaver rail.
This keeps the camera firmly fixed in the right position behind the scope
These pics should give you the idea

Thanks Bruce, nice set up, while sorting workshop out i found an old led down lighter form my sharps bedroom fitters kit, the ally case was perfect for mounting the camera to a flip up scope cover and it it is the perfect distance to the scope, also found a littl hinged bracket that fits onto a top scope mount via a small countersunk bolt,
Now looking to do a home brew ir light source, i have an old maglight i cut down and used as a gun lamp, looks like your light in ya pic, may try something with that.
