Drone Pro Mount from Neil Mckillop

Post by Gudge » 26 Jun 2017, 16:33

Right guys I've spoken to Neil and he can confirm if I can get 6 orders together he will make the Tikka mount for the drone again. Please let me know if you want one as I'm making a list I definitely want 2 will buy three if it means it gets the order made.

Cheers

Gudge,
Put me down for 2.
I have a definite use for one and you can bet that they''ll become like rocking horse poo before long again, so the second will easily sell.

Cheers

Gudge,

Put me down for one please....always good to have one in the cupboard. I sold my original on the basis that Neil was doing another batch...all things come to those who wait (Think that might have been Confucius? :lolno: )

Put me down for 1( 2 if it will fit the Drone 15 as I have both models) I don't live too far from Neil so I could take my Drone 15 to him to measure if required.

I would be suprised if the mount will fit the 15x especially due to the weight I would imagine it could be unstable so he would need to make a separate mount but I will ask him.
But I've definitely put you down for one for the 10x either way.
Like I said I will post here the prices he tells me tomorrow.

The way people are wanting these he will be going on an early Caribbean holiday

Guys just a quick question how does the Neil mckillop mount differ from the newer standard mount? I've just got a pic off a mate it overall they don't appear much different in terms of eye relief etc

Can't attach pic for some reason. But the end of his drone is in line with the end of the bullet ejection slot the same as Neil's and the height doesn't seem much different either.

Maybe I'm just missing something.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "newer standard mount" but the Drone has a QR picatinny mount which is attached to the wedge shaped rail on the base of the Drone - I believe this is called the prism rail
Neil McKillops mount does away with the QR picatinny mount and fixes directly to the prism rail - this keeps the height down, but still allows the bolt to operate correctly
Also, Neils' mount attaches directly to the dovetail on the Tikka with 2 screws and is normally fitted pretty far back on the Tikka rail to get the users eye right into the rubber cup on the end of the scope.
I'm delighted you've managed to get Neil to agree to make some more because this mount is far and away the neatest, tidiest, smartest method of mounting a drone onto a Tikka - all the others I've seen look pretty ugly and amateur by comparison.

Ahh I can't seem to attach the pictures to show you.

Im looking at the pictures of the slightly older 10x v the one my mates just bought and the older one definitely doesn't come as far back as the new one. On the old one the cup doesn't make it to the front knuckle of the comb so when Neil's mount is fitted it comes a couple of inches back up the comb but the new drones siting on a standard picatinny rail reach back to the same place as the old drone with Neil's mount. Or so it appears.

I wish I could put the pictures on it would make it a lot easier. Lol

Either way I will have one as I don't want to miss the boat incase I'm wrong but my mate says it's no different so he's now not going to bother.
