Metal detector for sale

Post by gypo » 15 Apr 2017, 09:35

I've just bought a Safari so my trusted minelab xterra 705 is up for sale.
It comes with the standard double D coil and a Nel tornado coil. Also included is a control box cover.
£400

GLWS, i do plenty of detecting myself with an XP Deus. Not been out for a month or so due to shooting and fishing at this time of year. Fascinating hobby though. I find some awesome stuff

Totally agree, I thought about getting a dues but then went for the safari.
The xterra is a good machine having said that.
I've had quite a few hammies with it.
Still learning the safari at the mo. I've had plenty of coins and a a silver ring off the beach but no gold yet :)

Ps
Not been fishing or shooting this season yet due to detecting :)

Do you need a licence to detect?
Any pictures?

No you don't need a licence to detect just land owners permission. Most beaches are free to detect on, you used to have to get a licence from the crown which was free but they have stopped that now so totally free.
I'm away at the moment but can post some pics on Monday evening.
The extra cool alone would cost £150 plus to buy.
It's a great machine to start out with and has found me plenty

Always makes me chuckle that the same old hobbies get intertwined.

I've never had a gold coin but had gold rings and dozens of hammered coinage, roman stuff, saxon coins and artefacts etc. Yet to find any celtic but i do have an early Medieval solid gold intaglio seal matrix (12th cent) going through the treasure process which the British Museum will no doubt want to purchase. Hopefully not but its out of my hands now. Nearly been 18months since i declared it and still no final conclusion. Even better, i found it on my families land.

Shooting and fishing for years means you end up knowing plenty of landowners, so a good headstart in terms of obtaining permission.

Hopefully that whets the appetite of someone and helps your sale

Gyp, do you ever bother with the prospecting mode, or treasure mode if using prospecting ? I looked at these but still stuck with the euro ace, what would one of these gain me?

Hi rod, no never bothered with it but in prospecting mode if you find a target that could be deep iron giving you a falsing signal, the halo effect I think it's called then switch to prospecting and it will change tone.
I've not used the euro ace to compare it but I did start out with the Garrett 250.
This is way better than that with constant ground tracking and good on the beach also.
Easy to use and with the big coil on the beach it's nice and stable. As with most machines on wet sand you would have to turn the sensitivity down a tad.
I've had some good finds with it straight out of the box.
If you look on YouTube for a guy called minelab mal he has some good videos using the xterra on surf and turf also he shows you how quick it is to set up.
Cheers
