I suspected the joke would not be lost across the pond. ( glad I do not have to explain it to a bunch of fellows with fierce animal names )

I do not hunt or shoot and have not for near 25 years. ( also night hunting is prohibited in Canada )
But I live in an urban area that has a lot of green space closing in and I have plenty of things to look at and some large enough to want to avoid.
If I get something operational I can post some nice pictures of bears ( raiding the garden sheds for meal ) or other large animals you probably do not have much contact with in the UK.
It is not a nice feeling to walk out of my workshop and find 300 pounds of curious bruin has silently followed you towards into the porch lights .
The local constabulary also gets real excited if you are seen brandishing anything that even looks like a firearm so there is not much you can do but try and avoid them.

I have had bears, deer, coyotes ( probably wolf hybrids ) and even a moose wander around the near woods and eating out of my garden.
Plenty of things to want to watch in dark.
Small game too, rabbits, black squirrel, grouse ducks and Canada geese, and on rare occasions ferocious rogue urban chickens to keep my dog running.

Before I joined in Some Bloke I had a good look at your online store.
Lots of products there I have an interest in.
Purely for spotting however I will probably send you an email about that nice little LCD monocular you have.

Strewth you have bears in your garden and not allowed to protect yourself from it with a gun!

I guess Canada has luvvie politicians instead of someone with a finger on a real pulse.

PS - over here a monocular describes a device used by one eye, so you probably mean a spotter?

I live in house made of plywood, stucko and dry wall 4 inches wide with some fiberglass wadding to keep the heat in....
I don't want anyone shooting a high power rifle around me.
Or even a Bow for that matter.

I bought my boys a paint ball gun, I might even try it myself if I see one this spring.

I have to learn the terminology.
Yes I mean a spotter but i could mean a monocular too.
Depends on what I decide to build.
I like that LCD display you have, but I am not sure if want to use the E700 or buy and try to modify the night eagle.( can you pull the latter out of its housing and use other board camera lenses ? )
Adafruit also has a nice display for 40 USD I think might be worth trying out on a spotter.
https://www.adafruit.com/products/911.

I am still reading and learning from this forum and have a lot too learn before I buy anything.

No idea about the nite eagle - but almost anything can be taken apart.

The adafruit has poor resolution and will be too small for most peoples spotting use in my opinion - though youngsters might be able to use it. You'll struggle to see 200 yard rabbit eyeshine which would be a pin prick size on that 2" screen unless using a large lens: which sort of undoes the practicality of spotting with a reasonably wide angle lens.

Don't worry too much about the terminology, monocular tends to be used when the device has a near eye display, spotter is often used to describe a device with an LCD screen that you look at with both eyes.
Bottom line is that they both do the same thing.
Don't bother with the Adafruit LCD screen - it's resolution is only 320x240 pixels.
You can buy a 5" LCD screen from loads of E bay outlets for around $25 and it will have 800x480 pixels
Even if you don't buy an E700 camera (you should - buy once, cry once) your camera will almost certainly have more pixels than the LCD screen, but the loss of quality will be much less with an 800x480 screen than it would be with a 320x240 screen.

Cheers

Pays to ask questions before you buy.
So dump the cheap little LCD and buy something better.

Some Bloke has something like these without the Camera and LEDs and I read they are good.

There is a temptation to buy just this product and modify it as required ( since I an suspect of a Chinese Camera with no specs )

It would be very nice to have something I could use to test coax and CCTV with as well.
I do have an old 4 inch LCD for testing but its heavy hard on batteries.
The picture is no hell but good enough to adjust a camera.

You might be mistaking me for someone else - I have never used a near eye device such as the item you link to.

Ashley Splatty is your man for that - I suspect he'll be along shortly.
