Harkila boots.

Post by chas » 09 Feb 2017, 18:54

Does anyone know if these boots are good for warmth, specifically the Harkila Staiga boot.
Not for me, someone has a real problem with cold feet and was asking me today.

Thanks.

Hello there,I have tried them all,I don't suffer cold feet, but I am afraid if the individual suffers cold feet then other than a boot that generates heat he is going to suffer,I would sudgest he try's different socks or even a coup,e of pairs of thin socks, for me meindel is is the boy,no need for running in,ready from the get go.

I've been looking at the army surplus Haix Extreme Cold Wet weather boots on fleabay following recommendations on the Stalking Directory. They seem to range from £35 -£90 odd depending on age and condition. Gortex and thinsulate(?) lined they seem to be good value for money.

The Karrimor SF and the Altberg surplus boots also get honourable mentions.

I owned a pair of Harkila GTX 8" boots for most of 14/15; they were good for comfort, weather resilience and warmth, but not as good as the Meindl boots they replaced.

I don't really suffer from cold feet, but my current combination of Teko Merino Wool Socks and Meindl Bhutan Boots keep my feet dry and warm no matter whats thrown at them... they even performed brilliantly during a recent trip to Norway, where it was effing cold!

Atb,
Darren.

Thanks for the comments blokes, some useful information there.
I'll copy and paste the info in an email to him so he a reference and let him decide.
I've told him to get to the doctors, he's only a young fella (30's) and as fit as a fiddle apart from this problem which apparently really does cause him some grief.

Thanks again.

Chris.
