I agree with Warbucks, if your dealing with rabbits having variable zoom is good
I have also found when shooting Rats on a feeder bin they get wise after a bit, so I tend to sit 80 to a100 yards off of a bin and that's when being able to zoom in to x16 is handy.

I use A 4 - 16 x 50 MTC viper with a E700 based add on and a T67AS and that lets me see
Further than i can shoot.

A couple of things that i think are an improvement on the earlier model one is the focus knob as opposed to the focus ring ,and the other is the batteries go into a cassette and it makes it that little bit easier inserting spare batteries in the dark ,other than that they are pretty much the same IMO :thumbup:
