Dave,

If you really were trying to be helpful then you've gone about it in the most un-helpful way possible.

If I was trying to insult you, then you would know about it. In fact, quite the contrary, I've been trying very hard to be as polite as possible.

If you have a bit of a read back through your comments, bearing in mind it's incredibly bad form to interfere with anyone’s sales thread i.e.

"you are selling the doublers for use with them and you shouldnt be"
"I understood the emails were sent to all of the 'official vendors',perhaps the seller isnt one"
"you dont even seem to know the ruling on returns of an item you are selling"
"I was merely stating a fact that you obviously knew nothing about"

When I read things like that, you might as well have just stopped beating around the bush and called me a front bottom who doesn't know anything about my business.

So who's really being impolite here? :shifty:

Anyway, enough joviality, let's get boring...

The pertinent part of the manufacturers warranty agreement states:
"This warranty does not cover damages caused by misuse or improper handling."
They haven't included any extra clauses regarding doublers, etc. in the agreement that the end user enters into with the manufacturer by completing and returning the warranty card.
So even if Yukon could argue that fitting their own accessory lens to their own product is 'misuse' then the only warranty problem would be if an end user, perhaps took to using the doubler as a handle to carry the rifle by and damaged the scope. Then only that damage would not be covered. If a fault occurred anywhere else on the device then it would of course be covered under the warranty.

The fact that an e-mail has been circulated within the trade from one of the group companies, has no bearing on the customers right to warranty because none of this is mentioned in the customer facing warranty agreement. It is, however, all about protecting higher price point products.

And that 'customer' mentioned above could be retail, trade or distributor. ;)

It does beg the question though, that if you aren't in the trade, why would you have a copy of what is presumably a confidential e-mail sent from a manufacturer, to a distributor about one of their retailers? It all sounds rather odd and completely against business ethics for anyone to release that information outside of the sphere of it's intended audience. But then market fixing by trying to stop two manufacturers own products being screwed together is also just as un-ethical...well actually it's illegal, but let's not get too carried away shall we.

We've been at this a very long time now and know all about our legal obligations and our contract with our customers (and suppliers). The contract and warranty is between the retailer and the customer. Then the contract is between the retailer and the distributor, before finally being between the distributor and the manufacturer. Warranty claims get pushed up the chain and warranty support gets passed down the chain, with the customer being very well protected.

So to re-iterate to anyone who has managed to trawl through all this. Yes you will 100% have a 3 year warranty from our company on this setup. Even if the UK distributor gets sucked into an inter dimensional vortex and can't support us with warranty, I think we can just about smash the piggy bank open and scrape together enough dough to buy you a new Photon should this one go tits up on you.

Anyway, thanks for putting your ill informed mockers on what was indeed a genuine offer of a bargain, very limited availability setup just for the members of this forum. Well done you.

Anyone else still with us....'wanna buy a cheap Photon and doubler?'

Cheers

Clive

have you ever heard the saying "dont shoot the messenger"?,all my original comment said was "If you fit a 'doubler' lens you are voiding your warranty." Your reply dismissing this as "complete rubbish" and "silly scaremongering" was what has lead us to this point.I was forced (by your comment) to retort and to prove what i said was a fact.Perhaps in the future you should check your facts before attacking somebody who was just trying to pass on some rather important information to the group (including yourself because you obviously didnt know),at the very least it has given you a chance to guarantee your warranty to the members here that have bought one of them from you,and acted as warning to those who have bought them elsewhere. If the Admins here would like me to email them a copy of the email, just let me know,it isnt a state secret as it was posted on the internet (by Scott Country) for all to see. Thanks

Put the link up to the document that states you are invalidating the warranty then we can get all this settled.

dave333, I can't see any need for forwarding emails and such tbh. if what you were saying was the case then its certainly not a bad thing for members to be aware of.....but i think clive has made it clear enough that a photon and doubler combo bought from him will in fact have a full three year warranty

I agree, that was the only point of my original comment (to make everyone concerned aware of the fact) and i'm guessing not all members have bought them just from him (so could potentially be at risk) ,i thought i was doing everyone a service by bringing it to light, that is all i have to say.

Questions and confirmations are good. I just didn't want it to degenerate into a full on slanging match :D
