being in AMERICA isnt all that FUN when looking at these for sale threads, you know, lol...

I always see gear go "used" (and lightly used is still used, caveat emptor, and all that rot...)

anyways, i always see gear go used? and it took me a WHILE to realize a couple things.

1) those prices are in POUNDS, so the "good price" is actually a lot more in american dollars

2) because of your horrible taxing system? you blokes all seem to value things a tad more than anywhere else.

3) i figure out the price in pounds to dollars, then i usually go see that i ca buy the item NEW shipped to my DOOR for about the same price or i am just saving a couple of dollars (5 dollars off of a 80 dollar NEW unit... to risk used? is false economy, really)

=================================================

i realize its not you guys fault, that you place higher values on things just because you are taxed to death 16 ways from sunday... just noting it takes all the FUN out of looking at the stuff, LMAO.

I am starting to figure that you guys probably place a higher value on "labour per hour" when you work on something too, when pricing it... all of this makes me realize the taxes over THERE across the pond must be worse than HERE.
Well, I understand that, boys... but see, my CAT gets the silly idea you're making fun of HIM... then he gets, *really* mean...

Hey Seders, that post was short enough for me to take in. :thumbup:

Yes mate everything is more expensive over here - I'm not going to get on the soap box and blame Labour governments for letting the Unions make us that way but hell, that's just what they did. :problem:

unless the exchange rate moved drastically in the last few months? 1.5 american dollars to 1 pound.

basically, i just multiply any "pound price" by 1.5 to get the "dollars price" fro myself...

heres a screenshot of a BRAND NEW angel eye system...
Image

50 pounds was 75 dollars...
*price drop* to 40 pounds? still 60 dollars...

shipping to america would be a few more dollars i am sure...

===================================================

I mean, I WANNA buy stuff off of you guys... early on i was thinking of an illuminator... now i am liking the aluminum tubing ready for the CS lens ready to go...

its just an economic thing... does the whole COUNTRY run like this? how do you COMPETE with other countries for stuff?

like i said, dont get the idea i am making fun... I actually WANT too buy a few things here and there, you know, YOU guys all taught me how to do all this stuff, its rude for me not to "patronize" a few of you to buy a few things...

the price differences just make it hard for me to be "loyal" in that manner, lol.

ha ha...

thats nawt POUNDS you silly goose... thats DOLLARS.

lol... I just checked the exchange rate, its moved again in teh last several months.
right now, 1 pound = 1.67 american dollars...

at that rate?

used 50 pounds = 83.50 american dollars
used 40 pounds = 66.80 american dollars

at 34 pounds, you will have matched the price *new* for me... and unless i miss my guess? at 34 pounds you arent going to ship it for free to me, LMAO... and keep in mind, i realize i trust you its lightly used, and on the lightest of scratches and a few screw holes...

like i said, i aint poking fun of you guys... i just always scratched my head at the PRICES on stuff, new or used from england, its just outrageous.

==========================================================

if this wasnt going on, with the price thing? i would have happily bought one of the illuminators months ago, lol... but all the illuminator builders are in england. I saw some of the "used" prices and the people raving about the great deals? I about fainted, lol.

i realize now though, with these kinds of prices you english guys have to PAY for stuff? I get it now... i always looked at something as simple as the "501 conversion" ready to go? 40 pounds? Thats 67 american dollars!

mind you? thats a 6 dollar flashlight when i look it up on the web, lol... a couple dollar lens, a couple dollar pill and driver, and some soldering... up till NOW i always thought the guy was trying to get 60 dollars for soldering a few wires together and screwing the thing together, LMAO...

now that i figure what HE has to pay for stuff, and what he must pay to LIVE... it makes more sense.

=======================================================

just believe me, i mean it from the bottom of my heart... i would like to buy a few bits and bobs here and there off of you guys used or whatnot... i just cant. I cant pay 83.50 plus shipping for a used unit thats 56.60 new...

go back to what you guys were doing, i'm sorry i interrupted your selling. My apologies...
