gen 1 cascade spotter *SOLD*

Post by genisis22 » 31 Oct 2013, 19:25

Hi for sale is my g1 cascade spotter

it has a 3Xcascade tube, star light,so ambient light star/moon etc is amplified 3x as to once by normal g1 [ so no ir required it exceeds MOD gen 1 spec and is Knocking on the door of good g3]
it has between 70,90,000 times intesified light,[average g 1 is 20/30 000.
it has a 1 inch inlet exit window which is 2/3 times bigger than normal, so gives a very large field of view, approx 30yds at 60yds in my garden 14 ft at 15 yds
it is powered by 3x AAA, batts and has a short weaver rail to mount ir,
it is , from memory 37 lpm, but remember this is over 1 inch not 5/10mm
it has an 8x eye piece
it has a 50mm asahi super takumar manual iris and focus lens giving a very deep field of view and clear image, in m42 thread, there are a multitude of m 42 lenses on the bay so lens change is very simple and not expensive if you want something with longer legs
thats the upside,
By no stretch of the imagination is this a pocket jobby at nearly 400mm and one kilo all up it is a solid bit of kit, after all it was ex mod for tank warfare, but is easy managable as a spotter on foot or 4x4 or bait watching, I do use a small ir torch with oslom to see eye shine, you have to see the difference a bit of ir makes

I am asking £120 posted for this, any questions please ask

Do you have any spare lenses for this?

I was just about to put a wanted advert on here for a lens as ive been building by own today and used a 25mm cctv lens, but want to try a 50mm or 75mm.

Cheers
Paul

That's a good price and a good lens genesis, I think somebody is going to be very happy with your castoff!
I have found the m42 lenses to be better because they let in more light, and lots cheaper than good CCTV lenses with the 1" format, that cascade tubes need.
I use both 50mm and 135mm on mine depending on what I want for magnification power. Objective FL/ocular FL = magnification.
I would say my cascade spotter has been the best bang for the buck I have spent on NV so far.

hi paul, no mate I have no spare lense at the moment sorry bud, try charity shops or s/hand camera shop if you cant wait for ebay, have bought from car boots and had good buys, but check for mould in lens and that the iris/ focus is smooth and not sticky look for signs of oil on iris blades, one to look for is a zenit m44. 4 2/58 a good lens, if you can buy camera as well the lens mount plate is held to cam body with four small screws very handy, also on chinnon and practica cams

http://www.zenit-camera.com/lenses.htm They sell direct.

Genisis, what is the body of your spotter made from? Aluminum or PVC? Seeing a mate tomorrow who was interested in building one, I'll see if he wants to buy yours instead. Would you be willing to post to Australia?

I think airmail for up to 2 kilos is < 10 pounds, so that won't be a killer. Will let you know if he bites.

The shipping by royal mail for tubes from starlight to me, was 24 pounds each, and took a couple weeks.
