Re: Wanted Thermal Spotter
If you want hard wired then the old Pulsar Quantum XQ models do have an analog video out put that can be hard wired to a screen.
However, they are hard to find and hold their price precisely because they are good for roof mounting
All the current Pulsar thermals are wifi only
Of the current thermals on sale, I know the Guide Track IR models have an analog output.
All the HIK thermals are wifi only
Most of the IRay thermals are wifi only but some of the older SAIM models have a USB C connector that has an analog video signal and with the right cable, can be connected to a screen (getting the cable is a PITA)
The PARD thermals do have an analog video output but finding a cable to work with it is a complete PITA
To be honest the wifi on most of the current thermals is good enough that it is as good as a hard wired connection
Pulsar with Streamvision2 is very good, as is HIK and Guide
Cheers

Re: Wanted Thermal Spotter
Edit, I just remembered that the HIKs have an option in the menu to output an analog video signal through the USB C port.
However, the USB cable that comes with the HIKs only has a standard USB A connector on the other end of the cable.
Again, a special USB C to analog cable would be needed.
Cheers

Re: Wanted Thermal Spotter
Anthony,
I had a Track IR 50 on trial and the wifi is excellent.
I had it simultaneously connected to my phone by wifi and hard wired to a screen and the lag between them was virtually imperceptible
I would have no hesitation in recommending it for a roof mounted spotter.
I'd try it with wifi before hard wiring it to see if you like it
IIRC, the hdmi connector is on the underside near the camera thread, so connecting a cable with the spotter screwed onto something might not be straightforward
Cheers

Re: Wanted Thermal Spotter
There’s an xq50 over on the SD….
https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/ ... er.242386/
Personally, I’d have thought that should’ve been around the £800 mark considering there was a Helion xq not far off his starting price in the last couple of weeks?
Cheers

Re: Wanted Thermal Spotter
Mines admittedly in better nick than that one, but I'd not sell it for less than a grand if I was starving, £800 would be a very good buy I reckon and wouldn't be surprised if he gets close to his asking price. To my mind, Quantum's hold value because a) they still perform pretty really well against new stuff, b) to me they are much nicer ergonomically than most things since, c) you can use rechargeable AAs in them which cost fuck all, and d) analogue video out. I'd honestly rather use a Quantum XQ than a Mk 1 Helion.fizzbangwhallop wrote: ↑20 Aug 2022, 07:48There’s an xq50 over on the SD….

I've bought/sold probably 20+ thermal spotters since I got my first one in 2015 (like trying new stuff!), most brands/spec; the only ones I've kept for any time are the Quantum (still comes out with me with the dog most nights) and Accolade XP LRFs subsequently replaced by Accolade 2 XP Pro LRFs. Only thing I regret selling was my H2 XP Pros, but no one had them in stock at the time, so the price was right and I wanted cash for something ;s
