This USED truck spotter has a very powerful magnet that will plonk and stay on a steel roof or rail at 30MPH - probably much faster but I don’t want to trial if or when it lets go. It features an expensive high quality KPC camera with an expensive 50mm Cosmicar TV lens for better than average imaging.

The camera/sender unit has a rechargeable battery that will provide about 5 hours constant use. A Uk plug mains charger is supplied. A mini weaver rail is securely fixed to attach an IR illuminator torch which is easily reached out the drivers window to double up as a handle to pan and tilt. The video image is transmitted via radio signal to a 7" monitor in the truck to avoid any cables trailing through a window or sunroof that can impede steering or maneuvering a rifle. The FPV radio signal does not suffer the usual lag that spoils wifi signals.

The battery in the 7" high definition FPV receiver monitor doesn't last very long - so it is supplied with a 12 volt cigar lighter power source. An IR illuminator torch with an upgrade IR LED pill is included - requires one 18650 battery - not supplied. A no obligation demonstration is offered at East Leicester any evening well after dark.

A brief field test video will follow when weather permits - but as the monitor doesn't have a record function I'll have to use an alternative viewing device that records.

A quick follow on field demo of the magmount truck spotter on a drizzly night. There wasn’t even a hint of moonlight but light pollution reflecting off light cloud supplied sufficient light to spot some hare blurs about 150 yards away, and rabbits even further. Much better than give up and go home because of how light reflects back to its source from an illuminator defeating the camera. In those conditions there is a further issue of light pollution wavelengths conflicting with IR wavelengths to spoil the camera focus, the best image is to be got from one or the other.

That was made possible because of how low light sensitive EXview equipped CCD cameras are, coupled with the extra special and expensive Cosmicar TV lens. See this topic to learn more about EXview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaM7Bo73mSM

The flat mown field end is 350 yards from the roadside gate I was viewing over and about 160 yards wide.

I guess I ought to put up a warning about the magnetic base to avoid tears: The thin walled black plastic box should not be used to apply leverage to remove the spotter or it will break before the magnets let go. It's very hard to pull it off if using all 12 of the concealed neodym magnets on a flat surface. I had about 1/3rd of the base overhanging the sunroof edge the first time I lifted it easily in the video.
Two hands are needed to pry it off using just the mount.

As this is a bit of a clearout I'll offer some no extra cost options:

A weaker easier to manage magnet base option which uses a taxi roof magnet - for delicate types.

A 75mm Cosmicar TV lens to give about 5 mag field of view in lieu of the 50mm lens offering about 3 and a bit mag. It has some scratches in the anodising.

The illuminator torch can be supplied with either a Black Sun LED pill or a Black Sun Ruby LED pill.
