The camera has the Code name Eagle +.

One instance of the camera (FullAuto) is located in Scotland, at Bruce "Phoenix" MacPherson.


I can provide the camera in two versions:

1. A camera with "honest" 25 frames per second, an on-screen menu, settings, but the picture is cropped on the sides and has a 4:3 format. So, it is like RunCam Night Eagle Astro Edition with more NIR sensitivity sensor and another form-factor.

2. Fully automatic operation, no menu. The camera itself selects the number of frames per second, and the noise reduction level has a clearer picture in the dark. The aspect ratio of the frame is 16: 9. Despite the reduction in the number of frames, there are no loops behind moving objects.
This is exactly what you had on the test.

Zulu50Oscar (Dmitri) sent me one of these cameras and an excellent 7-33mm f0.95 lens to try and to compare with the E700 and a Watec 910Hx.
That Watec costs around £600 and is generally regarded as the "King" of low light cameras and is much beloved by astrophotographers.
To compare Dmitris' camera with the E700 I used a spotter I hab built a while back which used an E700 camera a nd a Cosmicar Pentax 75mm f1.4 lens.
This a damned good spotter, but when the lens was fitted to Dmitris' camera I was clearly seeing stuff that the E700 was completely blind to.
Dmitris' camera was much more sensitive than the E700 and with no lag or loss of frame rate
I set up a test of Dmitris camera against the Watec as shown in the pic below

Both cameras were fitted with identical 1/3" 5-100mm f1.8 lenses and both lens were set at 100mm, fully open aperture and focussed on the target in daylight.

The video outputs of each camera went to a switch which was also connected to the lCD screen so I could easily switch between camera to make instant comparisons of the image tht each produced
The target was this tiled roof approx 60 yards away

I waited until it was dark - no moon and overcast
There are no adjustments in Dmitris camera and the Watec was reset to the default settings.
The image of the roof produced by the Watec was basically a black screen - no detail whatsoever. The background is somewhat brighter than the roof which made the ridgeline just visible
With Dmitris camera I could easily see the ridgeline and also the outline of the tiles on the roof
I could get the Watec to produce a similar image to Dmitris camera, but that required the use of sense up where the Watec was only producing 1 frame every 4 seconds. If the cameras were moved, the Watec image just blurred the screen with lag, while Dmitris camera did not show any lag.
The bottom line is that this is by far the most sensitive camera I've seen.
When used with the excellent 7-33mm f0.95 lens, this would make a really, really good very low light spotter.
Dmitri has kindly agreed that I hold onto the camera and lens so that if anyone on the forum wants to buy them, then I can send them directly from here rather than them having to come from Russia, where Dmitri is based.
Just to make it clear, I have no financial interest in this matter.
Dmitri contacted me because I had posted that I had a Watec 910HX and he wanted a comparison done with his camera.
I agreed to do the comparison and report the results - whatever they were.
He was happy with that and sent me the camera and lens to test.
My best guess is that the sensor in the camera is an SC1200 from Smartsenstech

Could you tell me at what value SensUp (x2 or x4, etc.) at Watec 910HX, the images became similar?

Sense up x4 - which I believe is one frame every 4 seconds.
To put it another way, that's 100 times slower than needed for video which appears continuous and smooth to the human eye.
I hesitate to say that your camera is 100 times more sensitive than the Watec, but I did not see any lag on your camera, which implies it was producing enough frames every second for me not to see any lag

x4 = 1/50 x 4 = 0.08 sec
It is unlikely that my video camera at night has an "honest" 25 frames per second, which Watec has, but the picture is clear and there are no noticeable plumes behind moving objects.

Thank you for the link - that's very interesting.
So sense up x4 implies that the frame rate is 7.5 per second.
That seems reasonable given how the screen looked when I moved the camera and how quickly the image stabilised when I stopped moving the camera.

Two questions please:

- How do you explain a such difference of prices between a WATEC910 HX and this unit?

- Could you please describe in more details the content of the OSD, the different adjustment parameters which are available? for instance, is there a sense up/frame integration possibility?

Sorry if such informations were already somewhere here given. Just tell me if it is the case.
