The new Range finder that can be used at night.

In the picture you can see its half the size of the old type

I presume to use this you need to have the ILluminator switched off otherwise you will not see the laser itself pinging on the quarry?
Re: The new Range finder that can be used at night.
I might be wrong, but I think you leave the illuminator on.
Assuming you're using the range finder with an NV spotter, then with the illuminator switched on you can see the target you want to range.
Switch on the laser and the laser "spot" should be visible in the spotters field of view.
"Paint" the target with the laser spot and read off the range on the digital display at the back of the rangefinder.
Cheers

Re: The new Range finder that can be used at night.
I just zeroed the laser to the same POI as the scope, no need to see the laser once you have done this.
Re: The new Range finder that can be used at night.
Anthony,
I agree with your method when mounting the range finder directly onto a scope, but I was thinking about using it on an NV spotter to get a range to the target before shooting with a thermal rifle scope.

No I don't have one of these, I had one the old model.
It worked OK but I found it too bulky on the side of my scope so took it off, I found I rarely needed to use it and it was too much of a faff when I did.

Sorry in the late replies as away on crimbo holiday,
No you can see the laser ping even with the IR torch on, as long as it's not set to white out !
Hope this helps....Splatty
