I think it depends on what a user wants one for - and can easily afford to have laying around most of the time. There are those who will spend thousands to covertly nature watch badgers etc in the wild with no other means of discerning detail.
Shooter wise, some simply have to banter brag they can pee further than their buddies and easily display they have the funds to enjoy the extra detail. This is one of the things - military apart - that brings on improvements.
And those who only want to know if or when a fox is in the field heading for their chicken pen.
A cheap low resolution mono no frills thermal spotter has a place for some - especially if the user also has the time afforded by covert observation and a scoped rifle ready to finalise the pest control.

Dave,
This guy Ronin is taking the piss
He has been a member since 2016, but only has 8 posts - all which relate to his trying to sell some kit
He wants 5465 euros for a pan and tilt roof mounted thermal spotter that uses a thermal core that was old fashioned in the 1990s.
Cheers
Bruce

BTW, he's been trying to sell this pile of crap since at least 2013
http://ronintactical.blogspot.com/2013/ ... l-eye.html
It was also reviewed in a US police equipment website in 2004 and all manufacture of Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) sensors ended in 2009
Cheers
