Hello all.
There is plenty of information online about the US Gov's. DSP-5 Forms and how to fill in the required details, seems to me that an outlay of £8,000 i'sh would be do-able for anyone who could claim back either the whole cost including the import/duty costs ? or have the costs written off as a necessary business purchase, which amounts to the same thing. I would not be surprised if "a enterprising farming contractor who is zero rated for VAT, who also undertakes extensive vermin control for farmers could argue the case that a up market 60mm thermal is a vital piece of kit for him/her to carry out any vermin control/work effectively" ?
Or another ideal would be either a large scale sheep farmer or a estate keeper where owning a 60mm Trijicon IR Hunter Mk III would be a legitimate tool for parts of his/her trade ? any US citizen who owns farming or sporting rights in the UK could legitimately bring one into the UK for a very reasonable cost. If it's performance is as good as it's design the 60mm Hunter would top any wish list ?
It could even get 5% to 7% cheaper if someone lived in a "Zero Sales Tax State" like Oregon, Montana, New Hampshire, Delaware or Alaska because Trijicon is based in Michigan which operates a "Destination Based Sales Tax"
Just read some interesting facts about Trijicon and their 25% discount offer to military and other personnel via the Expert Voice arrangements, I am off now "going to join the US Coast Guard and relocate to Delaware" lol !!!
Spoke with Beechwood who import Trijicon, DSP-5 Form needs to be filled out by a US citizen, and it would seem that "the powers that be are happier when a DSP-5 export is from a company to another company ? so US company to UK company = US FFL to UK RFD. Having a temporary address halfway up the Khyber Pass because you are on holiday with your long lost cousin Gupta is not going to cross all the T's or dot any I's
Thanks
Phil
