Got an email from FoxPro Tech support today.....$71 including a new battery cover for my back-up Spitfire which my mate managed to lose.....and postage back (I hope)

And they take P'pal too......and I asked them to specify customer repair on the declaration (fingers crossed)

Another vixen in to the call tonight

Cheers

It's a pity that the £ is so weak against the $ Fizz it is making $ items a lot more expensive.

Yeah.. Too true

It did occur to me that perhaps I should have looked around for a new keypad.....apart from the Foxpro branding they must be out there somewhere.

I did find the aerials on UK mouser and upgraded the stubby aerial on the handset to give me better range but even that came from Mouser in the US and the postage was 3 times the aerial's price.......wish I'd added another to replace the one on the caller after a Fallow had a nibble of it.

Fizz, the FX 3 model has a big brother the FX 5 model and there is a also a FX 1-B which looks to be a very similar design and size to the Flambeau Bandit M1 Basic M600 which was designed and built originally by Todd & Steve Borland who own a company called Minaska Outdoors who are based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Both brothers are serious Racoon hunting enthusiasts.
Have a look at minaskaoutdoors, com I have their Big Country on it's way from the snowy depths of North Dakota via a family friend, "I don't think it is going to get across the big pond until a fair while after the thaw kicks in up in ND" another mate sent me an email saying "we are up to our armpits in fresh snow, it's all in hand bare with me for now"

Cheers Phil, I'll have a look

Got an email from foxpro earlier to say my handset is on it's way back, tracked.

Looking forward to that..... another dog last night from the same high seat as the vixen the night before... must have been looking for her but he didn't react to any of the vixen calls on the Spitfire in that he didn't go straight to it. Must have been a bit hard of hearing too as it took a couple of "Oi!'s" to get him to stop at a massive 40 yards..coming straight towards the seat.

Cheers

$71.50 which worked out at just over £59 on P'pals exchange rate the other day...$1.21:£1 odd.

That included a new battery cover for the Spitfire and tracked shipping but I don't know what the cost of the battery cover was. The cost of the repair can't be far off the $30-40 quoted.

Trouble is....... I had to get it done as it was the cheapest option. I did have a quick look for a replacement keypad on Google, mouser etc but no joy there.

Cheers

That looks like the way. I will have to go. Phil has one for sale but he's looking for £80 for the hand set I think I will wait a bit to see if one comes up for sale.
