Yukon Photon RT 6.50s Extreme

Post by Harleyman » 29 Nov 2022, 14:47

Photon RT 6.5s with "Extreme" conversion. Professional M42 adapter to take genuine Asahi Pentax Takumar 55m f2 lens ( worth £50 or so on it's own). Lens gives a very good crisp image and adjustable diaphragm enables you to tune aperture to light conditions and gives greater depth of field. In very good fully working condition, complete with all original items it came with including box and original lens etc, if for some reason it is required to revert to standard spec. The only thing missing I believe is the original rubber eyecup, I didn’t get on with it so removed it. However a replacement is included if it is required. Comes with two standard battery cassettes to take 4 AA batteries and also the Yukon enclosed battery packs and charger which is far superior. The original batteries in this died so I replaced them and it works fine, I just couldn't get the top to sit down fully, but as I say it works fine. I really like the controls on this scope, I find them easier and more intuitive than the Pard 008 that i have. Great starter for night vision use, it accounted for many rabbits. I bought a Pard 008 so it got taken off the rifle and not used and has been sat in the drawer for some time. The daytime image with these scopes is not good so it is best kept on a dedicated NV setup. The nighttime image is fine especially if a decent illuminator is used, with more range than you would wish to shoot, the onboard units are not up to much. In West Yorks, can be seen working if required. I tried to get a screen shot to show it works ok but I couldn't get a decent picture.
£300

Just some further information regarding the controls on the scope. There are only 3 buttons, on/off, pic or video recording and the main control which is a rotary encoder and is operated by either a long or short press and turning the knob ccw or acw to scroll through the different menu settings. Having just seen a review on the latest Pard DS 35, the Pard uses precisely the same type of rotary encoder and this function is hailed as a huge improvement over previous multi button control systems. The Photon has the same system and it is indeed very easy to use and see the different functions on the screen rather than having to remember which button to press and is it a long or a short press.
