Wanted thermal spotter

Post by Silvio88 » 25 Feb 2021, 17:59

Hello

I’m looking to purchase a thermal spotter for Airgun use.

Was looking at something like the hikvision 6mm
Or
The Flir TK scout or something similar?

Don’t want to spent a fortune as again is for airgun use only so no need a massive expensive one.

Thanks

Don't bother with the hik6mm it won't positively identify a rabbit at more than about 12 yards
For positive identification of rabbits at sub 12ftlb air rifle ranges, the best choices are the HIK Vulkan15 or the Guide nano N1.
Both around the £900 mark.
Honestly, don't waste your money on a HIK 6mm, you'll just be disappointed.

Cheers

even a second hand 25 micron device will make the hik seem totally pointless, which it is

in answerto your next question check pheonix's post "what do all the numbers mean" in the thermal stickies

Forget anything made by FLIR - everything they sell is overpriced for what it is.
The TK Scout in particular is total crap - much worse than the HIK 6mm
For what you want to do you should be looking at thermals with 15mm lenses as a minimum and the only 2 that fir the bill are the HIK Vulkan 15 and the Guide nano 1

Cheers
