Thermal
Re: Thermal
There's no such thing as a cheap thermal that will identify anything at those ranges

Re: Thermal
What does he class as cheap?
Makes a big difference.
You could get second hand, new cheap basic hit unit for about £500 or there's a phone add-on that someone was using (on web sites) that seems to be ok for ratting ranges.
Money available here makes a huge difference

Re: Thermal
It's not about him identifying anything its just to see if there's anything about the shed's.
I've told him thermals not cheap, but I said I'd ask.

Hi Eric
"For looking round his chicken sheds"
I assume this is mainly checking to see if there are any foxes/badgers about ?
Unless thermal money isn't a problem for him i would suggest a T50 or bigger torch in red or white, or a n/v spotter.
I have a farmer who shines a big white lamp over his field every night just before he goes to bed, if he see any foxes he lets me know, this small amount of lamp on them hasn't effected me shooting them with my night vision rig.

A Trail cameras okay it's just that there's a dozen sheds so the camera wont cover all of them.

Re: Thermal
One of the things i do to see if there are any foxes visiting is to leave full shot rabbits about, ----------you cannot leave small pieces of food to do this as the birds take it, ---------a full rabbit/s that go is usually mr fox, then knowing you have a fox about you just need someone to shoot it.

Re: Thermal
My biggest problem trying to bait up , is buzzards and crows eating it , try putting into rock piles etc but the buggers still find it lol
