Yukon Photon XT 6.5X50 £375 Special Offer
Hi All,
There's no way we can be doing any of the usual Black Friday shenanigans due to increased costs but...
We've got a few of these on offer.

Damnit, so you're not going to do new thermal sights for a special price of £15 then ?

Hmm, I know, and I've given it some considerable thought. In all honesty I don't think thermal would be of benefit where I shoot at the moment, may in fact be a disadvantage. There's a lot of light scrub / long coarse grass and it's not always visible through thermal, however the quarry is. It's not until I look through nv that I see the obstructions.
I'm still thinking though, the jury's out on this one at the moment

From my experience with a decent thermal rifle scope...
To give a little bit of an idea, with the WT1 75-3 you can easily resolve 3mm or so dia fence wire at over 100 yards and aim accordingly.
In the real world I'm quite happy to punch through all sorts of undergrowth, brambles, bracken, etc. with the .22 Hornet and .223 and have never had a problem doing so with deflection. Obviously 100% ID is crucial but then it's just a case of getting the bullet to the intended point of impact and avoiding any very thick bits (which you will easily see).
To add to the disbelief I've even done it with the .17 HMR and have a short video somewhere of 4 consecutive shots at 70 odd yards where the last 10 yards of bullet travel were through tall meadow grass that had gone to seed. No appreciable deflection and 4 dead Rabbits.
This ability to shoot through cover is the trick up thermals sleeve.

I'll be honest Clive and say I also shoot through scrub so long as I can see the target clearly enough to id, and I also have never knowingly had much deflection. The bullets travelling so fast I just don't think light scrub makes one iota of difference to the trajectory.
Would you see a three mm wire with this model? It's the big boy that really takes my fancy, but even that one may be unnecessary on my shoots.
Still thinking about it to be honest
