Let's all spare a little thought today for all the brave souls who went up the beaches on D day.

Without them we probably wouldn't be here today. God bless them all
My old man went in on the 7th and apparently even then it wasn't a nice place to be.
We need a "doff my hat" smiley for these occasions

I've sat here Rod, reading your post over and over trying to word a reply, one of gratitude to all those who gave their all and many who gave more.
But what went on over there is to be honest beyond my comprehension as I would think it is most people.
We must always remember the cost of the freedom given to us from a past generation.

They interviewed a daughter of one of the veterans. Her father had died in the onslaught but she was only a child when it happened.
She said that it was only years later, as an adult, when she saw children playing in a park, that she realised exactly what her father had fought and died for. The right to have children. The right to be happy.
Quite poignant, I thought.

Well said rod

, we were lucky enough to have a hurricane fly over our yard a couple of times yesterday which was really good to see and hear especially with the clear blue sky

Yep, can't see a little thing like crossing the channel bothering the likes of him, good for him
next time you're all out shooting, particularly with firearms, just try to imagine what it would be like running from the far end of the field towards the gun, in broad daylight, hoping the shooter missed.
Not a pleasant thought is it ?
