Karrimor Boots, Rubbish ???

Just a heads up to stop anyone making the same mistake as me.
I always buy Hitec walking boots (the fabric sort) for knocking about in. Never, ever, had a bad pair, no complaints what ever in probably 30 years of buying their gear.

Went into Sports Direct a few weeks ago for another pair of Hitec. Not got any in stock so my son says " those Karrimor look OK". At this point, after walking around merry Hill to get to SD, I'm thinking the same thing, so I bought a pair.
Wore them once and the top eyelet pulled out of one boot, wore them again and the top eyelet pulled out of the second boot !! Tried to find email for Karrimor and it gives you the email Sports Direct.

Contacted SD who asked for receipt, this of course went in the bag in the store and then in the bin at home. I can understand SD wanting the receipt to confirm they sold them, but why no contact for Karrimor.

The manufacturer, Karrimor, would be able to see the boots are virtually unworn, and they know they made them, so would have to exchange them.
The answer !!! Wear them for gardening / work until they fall apart (which will not be long at this rate) then chuck them away.

Will I buy Karrimor again ..........not a cat in hells chance. Would I tell anyone else to buy Karrimor ........Not even my worst enemy.

Be warned, in my opinion Karrimor make and sell rubbish and they're not worth the box they come in !!!

Ditto Magnum.

6 months old, probably 20 hours use... falling to bits. Other halfs pair the same.

Gone back to using my old pair of Magnums that are now 10 years old, worn daily and still going.

They don't make em like they used too.

not bought any karrimoor stuff for a few years. but some of my favorite bits of kit are from them. a 80-100ltr and a 45ltr sabre ruksack both have seen loads of abuse...and my pertex windshirt and trousers are fantastic bits of kit, i'v used those for everything from a zoot suit in the tropics to an emergancy towel

mind you, i suspect the boots from jd sports have very little in common with the more militaristic stuff

I've had their stuff before (my climbing rucksack for one), that's why I assumed the boots would be OK. Oh how wrong I was.
The most annoying thing is how they make it impossible to contact them, almost as if they're having a last fling at selling rubbish for as much as possible then going under (again ?) It will not be long at this rate.

My good boots are Webtex, brilliant boots, dry and warm.

Sorry to hear about your rip off experience.
I purchased a pair of rubber wellies with some sock inserts and with an aluminium thermal barrier, from... lidl ( ) for £10. That was 2 years ago and they are still going strong. Got one size bigger so that I can use separate thermal socks if needed but never needed. Best value for money.

I bought some of those croc ripoff sandal thingys from either Aldi or Lidl, only a few quid. Do you think I can wear the things out They look like something a Tramp's thrown out now but they're still going strong. Wish I'd bought a few pairs.

Karrimor could do with lessons off some of the bargain brands about goods being fit for purpose

Perhaps they should change their name to Krapimor
