first things first, for gods sake get yourself an led illuminator t20 or 501b. the inbuilt i.r on the photon is the worst thing ever invented by man

Hi Steve welcome over here mate.
Like Adam said, get an LED based IR - then a lens cap or flip up with an iris hole in it.
Neither needs to be a big expensive one.
Dave.

Re: new boy
ok.just got in from the garden.the pic on the photon is fuzzy (ish) even with playing with all the buttons etc.will an LED 501b help with this + a lens cap?also will a sony doubler???be even better?my normal shooting range is 40-130 yrds.SORRY for all the silly questions, but apart from normal lamping,NV is very new to me
also been a long, long day for me,dont know if i was meant to leave the cap on or off
thanks for your patience.steve

Re: new boy
Hi Steve, A 501B or T20 will do for the IR.
This is how an iris sorts out the focal issues, and being as you are using it for one of three air rifles and HMR to 130 yards you don't really need a doubler. See how you get on with it with just an iris - then if you decide a bit later that it's going to be mostly used with the HMR then is the time to consider the doubler rather than spend out doing it the other way round IMO.
