Hello!

Hi, I've been messing about with Sony cams, odicforce lasers and gen 1 scopes for a while but I'd like to move on to a slightly better system - albeit on a shoestring budget. So with a big subject and a small brain I may need help at some point! After seeing all the info on this forum, and the amount of time and effort that has gone into getting some pretty top-spec systems my hat is doffed to all you clever people.

All the best

Snapper

G'day Snapper, welcome to the forum. As others have mentioned, nearest town or city, or your county is generally considered your location, so one of the Mods will be along to monster you shortly. I'd update it before the trunk monkey, the dog or the gloop thing notices this thread.

That being said, if you let us know your budget, caliber, distance to shoot to and type of game, we'll pile on with opinions.

Hiya snapper - welcome to the dark patch.

Will you be able to dedicate a rifle to NV - or will you be wanting to fit one on the back of a scope? Is your quarry light shy at short range?

An idea of what you use to shoot with - and at what ranges will also help members steer you in the right direction to spend some money..... you DO have some the wife don't know about right? :shh: :D

Thanks for the messages. I've just updated my profile - I'm in East Sussex.

I have been using a Sony cam with Odicforce 830nm 300mW laser to very good effect, I like the eye viewer, the lightness, the lack of a big battery but not the shooting position so I've just bought another rifle (another .177 PCP air rifle) to mount a dedicated NV system to. I don't like screens as I shoot on foot and don't like to be totally blinded after scanning with a screen, so I bought a second hand Bresser that I was intending to mount on the rifle and have a laser sight (with a couple of ND filters in front to cut the output) but I'm starting to come round to the idea of a proper home build. Finding a cheap eye viewer may be a problem though.

Excellent, thanks, this forum is amazing. I have a dead panasonic nv-gs33o kicking around that I may practice on, so by the time I destroy that one I may have learned what not to do.
