I've been looking to buy a Nitesite NS50 for my ratting permission. However I've somehow ended up here and thank god I did prior to shelling out £400!

Going to start looking into building my own NV setup for my MTC Mamba.

I've got as far as what camera I'm going to use (E700 with a 16mm lens) as you lot seem to rate them highly.

Just need to figure out how I'm going to mount it to the scope and what screen and illuminator I'm going to use now!

Anyway. Thought I'd just say hi.

Thanks guys! One thing I can't get my head round. Do all E700 come with the IR filter that your have to remove or do the ones Sure sell with the 16mm lens come good to go?

They all come with it. They are talking with the factory about getting a different filter that lets 850nm IR light through, but that is some way off, if ever.
The filter is only held on with gum. Undo the two screws in the back of the housing. The back plate and camera board will fall out. Look at the sensor in the middle. There is a pinkish piece of glass on top. Slide a craft knife between sensor housing and glass, give it a push and a twist and it will come off. Peel the residue of the gum away (it will come free very easily) and you are done. Put the board and back plate in the housing, put in the screws, plug in the lead and power it up.
