Bored all week

Post by Gloop » 17 Mar 2012, 00:31

I got wheeled in to hospital Monday and then sent back home Tuesday with a few extra holes in me and some hernias sorted. Finally. I also lost out on some deerstalking I had been invited on because my op got put back. That was the most annoying thing of all. I have been bored senseless with the crap that is on tv. Its amazing how if you watch TV for one day then you have watched it for at least a week because of the amount of repeats.

Anyway I decided tonight that enough was enough so I went out ratting. I'm not supposed to left anything heavy but I don't think that includes my air rifle :D . I am also supposed to do plenty of walking so I think walking up and down the farmyard shooting rats counts in my book. It was hard to get motivated but once i got out I had a fun night.

Plus having been made redundant etc etc all in all it has been an interesting few months. Luckily I have managed to get myself a contract so I've been really lucky and only managed to be out of work for 7 days so far. Whilst things have been a bit stressful it has been a lot better than it could have been. As my mum was so fond of saying, "There are starving children in Africa who are a lot worse off".

Oh and I got stung by a few bees last year and I am allergic. I had to get stuffed with antihistamines. The worst about it is that they are my friggin bees. Ungrateful sods. On the plus side I have spoken to someone so I think I should be able to move them near a rapefield soon. So I should get a good crop of honey this year.
Anyway my biggest problem this year is that my shooting is going to be curtailed as getting up early and going to bed early doesn't leave me much time for wandering off in a different direction to go shooting.

So where am I going with this? Well nowhere exciting. I am going to try to do a series of articles on the kit I use for hunting and what bits I find useful and how I use it to get the best out of it. It will fill some space one the forum. Expand it out to get arguments going as to what is good and what isn't. Maybe someone will be able to get some good information and it will give me something to do in the evening.

So hopefully next week I will start on knifes and eventually end up doing a review of the various calibres I have used.
Bearing in mind the following. I know bugger all and someone will have done loads more than me. But if i write something down then some one will conradict me.

Happy Paddys day to you all. I might not start this till next week as tomorrow I may be busy drinking green cider. Well I never liked Guinness.

I've even run out of bandwidth with my mobile broadband so had to come to the pub to do this.

I'm back at work now. Well I thought I might as well sit at work and get paid as sit at home and not.
Have to nip off to see the surgeon tomorrow to get my one, yup one stitch out. Life is getting back to normal pretty quick. I am out shooting Friday/Saturday possibly Sunday and have managed to get somebody to take me out deer stalking for a reasonable sum of money Monday.
So my smiling happy head is back in place.

Hi Tadpole, yup I have 2 hives. I did have 3 but one died. It wasn't queen right. The other two were ok but not a lot of honey last year. I have to call a farmer locally who is growing oil seed rape. He may well let me move the bees there and that could mean an awful lot of honey for me this year.

But I am always up for a beer, either here or there. If fact maybe as a forum we should have a social night one evening? My local isn't bad. End of the month they are even having a rabbit stew and a rabbit and pigeon pie night. £10 a head. Food is being supplied by yours truely. just in case anybody local fancies eating out.

Is the night of the rabbit stew at the same place as you held the NV meet?
What date is it i could be up for that?

I also got stung & had a bad reaction from my bees resulting in packing up after about 30 years.
I still miss them, however a neighbour around the corner took it up so I take a walk to see hers every now & then

It's a different place. It's at the Taste of England, Lower Henwick Farm, Thatcham. And it's on the 31/3/12
I had a bad reaction as well but haven't decided if I will give it up yet. See how I get on this year. But I do need to be careful. Must get myself an Eppi pen. Just in case. :D

If your free come on over. Just let us know as they need to know numbers in advance.
The first official NVFuk social meeting. All two of us............
