Computer genius urgently needed !!!

Post by rodp » 27 Dec 2013, 14:47

Anyone a little bit good on PC's up for a challenge? We run two PC's networked on a Virgin superhub thingy, both wired. This one is dying rapidly, it's old, full of rubbish and probably riddled with ricketts.
The other one, empty, formatted, set up with XP, will just not connect to the internet :(
No matter what I run or do it just will not connect. I ran the IE diagnostic and had miles of text about proxys etc  . Means nothing to me. It will connect to the other pc so something's working
Anyone care to take a look at the diagnostic list ?.................Please

Done that John, well, copied everything over manually. Double checked addresses, numbers, the lot. The computers connect to each other and the one that won't connect apparently "pings", just will not connect to server.
I've reached the end of my capabilities (didn't take long) and it needs someone with a little know how now.

If there's no joy on here I'll cart it off to a shop and get them to take a look.
I think it's going to be one of those "who did this, dumbass" sort of things

Thanks anyway John

Rod, have you loaded the driver for the network adaptor, chek under control panel, then device manager see if you have any red crosses, if you do the you will need to reload the driver.
