Sellers are not allowed to list any equipment which is designed to shoot any projectile, regardless of its condition due to safety reasons and legal restrictions of firearms act 1968. I think you may be right - I have just took the precaution of removing 'rifle' out of the title of one of the other listings leaving it as 'air ranges'.

Looks like I'll have to wait for them to address the matter before I re-list it - or risk the account.

You are completely in the right. But with both Ebay and PayPal you do need to be careful with wording.

I had a bit of an issue pre the VCR bill where PP froze our account for selling a small plastic moderator and were going to keep our balance for some 6 moths or so!

After a quick call to a chum in the banking industry I found out this was not allowed. Also for some reason they cited the US terms to us which didn't mention the pop gun parts we were selling.

So a quick irate call to PayPal resulted in an apology and reinstated account with us continuing to sell said moderator.

But it is a hassle and avoid it if you can.

Actual firearms can't be listed on eBay. However, some accessories for firearms are okay to sell, but only under certain conditions. See the list below for more details.

Allowed


Bulletproof vests/ flak jackets

Calibre conversion information or blueprints

Magazine holders, moon clips, speed loaders or stripper clips

Restricted


Accessories for guns such as butt plates, cleaning supplies, holsters, pistol grips, racks, scopes, slings, stocks, storage cases or trigger guards. The listing must include a description of the type of firearm the accessory or part is used for. If it doesn't, the listing may be removed.

Muzzle loader or black powder gun parts or accessories, as long as each item is offered in one listing at a time. (However, having separate listings for items that can be used to build a gun is prohibited.)

It seems possible that it's OK if its for a 'firearm' but maybe not for an air rifle.

They dont look at the Ebay listing usually.
If they do look at the listing it will be some silly low paid worker in china or india.
Iv had items removed from ebay in the past.
