A good friend told me about this forum so I decided to check it out. I am pretty familiar with US tubes and milspec gear. My name is Dino and it looks like a nice forum. I always like to see what other night vision enthusiasts are up to.

Hello Dino
Welcome
A lot of digital talk here, DIY and store bought, but we like to talk/hear about analog and thermal too.
There are some pretty fine DIY lR illuminators round these parts, be careful they'll burn your eyes out.
I got a couple questions right off the bat for ya, Where is the reticule located at in the Israeli PVS-2, I haven't taken it apart yet to have a look see, and 2nd question - can I replace the tube with the EEV P079HP, and get rid that oscillator business?
Cheers
Mike

Hillbilly, I have not played with a PVS-2 in many years. I personally use a Gen 3 PVS-4 or the M845. If memory serves me correct the reticle on a PVS-2 was etched into the tube itself (possibly a glass overlay on the tube).
Many years ago I was into the Gen1 cascade tubes but I am way out of practice with them. We just don't see these in use much in the US and working on them is more for collectors where I am from. I owned a StarTron MK 303 which used a Gen 1 cascade tube but that was many moons ago.

The PVS2 was all the green

I could afford, it's tube is not as good as these EEV tubes I built a spotter from, so I was thinking on changing it out if I don't lose the reticule.
I have read conflicting info about the reticule location, I'll just have to take it apart sometime to see what's inside!
That M845 has been tempting me!
Thanks
