My first 3D enclosure

Ive just had a go at some 3D design, I have made a enclosure for a board cam as it was the only thing i could think of at the time which i thought might be useful.

im quite happy with myself, what do you think?
I know it needs some more work but i think its alright for a first go!

Paul, I'm sure the patent on the metal powder printers expires early next year. This may possibly have a dramatic effect on the price of plastic printers, I'd hold fire a while.

Well not long really, I think all of the techniques I used to make that box were in this video by Dennis Baldwin.

I see what you mean, but the one im thinking about is called a 'RepRap Mendel'. It consists of threaded rod, nuts, smooth rod, bushings, 3D printed corners, a micro controller, stepper motors, hot bed and a extruder. (I think ive covered it all)

The only bits i see getting cheaper are the micro controller, hotbed and extruder assembly.

You can source the whole lot for yourself or the creator of this open source project (a university lecturer from Bristol) actually sells kits.

The kit is £512 posted.
Compared to a maker bot replicator @ £1,600, the RepRap is much more affordable.

They also do another kit for a smaller printer called the 'Huxley' which has a smaller bed so cant print larger models. its priced @ £411

A few weeks ago i installed a 3d package and went straight in to make a DSA similar to the pulsar challenger one. I failed dueto not knowing the basics.
