Are there times...................

Post by Marky610 » 21 Aug 2013, 10:50

................when you question your own intelligence?

Just received a 2.5x mag Yukon lens to try on the Photon, couldn't unwrap it quick enough and have a look see.

Removed the 1.7x lens from the scope and fitted the 2.5x lens fired up the Photon and the screen flashed and went off, no probs new batteries, did the same? Got me meter and checked the batteries, a little low but nothing to concern me, tried 12v external power, did the same.

Bollax the Photon's knackered.

Thinking in my logical pattern as I do the only thing thats changed between today and yesterday when it was working was the lens so I removed it inserted 2 batteries and hey presto the Photon worked

Thank f___ for that. Put the 1.7x lens on, worked, put the 2.5x lens on nothing. :problem:

Wondered it the was a coating or something stopping the light so held both lens up and looked through them, lovely bright picture from the 1.7x lens bugger all from the 2.5x lens, interesting?

Inspected the 2.5x lens to see if the coatings look any different and discovered the lens cap on the inside of the thread

Works fine now
Land Rovers, who would be daft enough to own one?

Computer tech support question 1: Is it plugged in?
Night vision tech support question 1: Is the lens cap off?

I think we've all been there, more than once. Somewhere I have a de-motivator with a pic of a sad stick figure saying "I cannot brain. I have the dumbs." Could have been me when I was on opiates for a broken back.
As for doubting your intelligence? Nah. I think you have done more for the understanding and use of digital night vision than most paid engineers working at it for a living.
