I was about 13 when I read a boy's book called "Rick Brant Science adventures." This book started my science fair project of infered light devices. My first tube was a RCA tube from WWII i think it was called a p125 or something like that. It had several focusing grids. My power supply at the time weighed over 50 lbs, i.e. about 23 kg to some of you. I also had a British tube, name not remembered. it was a simple tube with a small screen and no focusing grids. years later i went back to black light with a student from my math class. I now had a tube from the Korean police action with only 2 or three grids. we also had a small switching supply that was a lot safer the my first one. now i am only a few parts away from a design started by Rolaids in his update 3. I am now 73 so this is the longest science fair project on my record. If my additions have any merit or i am happy with what i do i will report it on DIY section. Until then i remain your ardent student. ken r
