recording spirit voices... LMAO

Post by sedstar » 03 Aug 2013, 09:41

since someone else brought up ghost hunting?

it may come as a shock to some here, but, (looks around conspiratorially) dont TELL anyone, but, i am something of a "geek" (shhhhhhhhh!)

anyways? i once "amused" myself looking at the ghost hunting website, the established ones from up in the city an hour north of me? i was readig thru their forum posts, just for a jolly good entertainment?

oh good christ, for the love of GOD himself. The "spirit recordings" are a PET PEEVE of mine, because i am a HAM radio guy (Kilo Bravo Three, Oscar Yankee Zulu).

NOW, for the few of you who might NOT know the general procedure to this shite aspect of the whole "ghostbuster" experience? A basic "experiment" would be, say for example, you take a CASSETE TAPE RECORDER, runnign on batteries. You place it smewhere "suitable" where spirit activity is "likely" and suspected? Say... i dont know... a GRAVEYARD?

now, i think most of us are old enough to have remembered cassette tape recorders. and how they operate? if you "record" ambient sounds with the volume knob UP HIGH whhile you are recording? When you play it back? you cant turn the volume knob up again, you are STUCK with not being able to turn the volume up on the recording you made. (i think we all went thru this the first few recordings, lol)

or, you can record with the volume knob DOWN, the recording is the same "volume"... but now when you PLAY IT BACK, you can now turn th volume UP. This is not requiring a bloody SOUND RECORDING ENGINEER, any teenager learns this quick recording with his cassette recorder. It should be obvious, if you turn the volume know ALL the way down? you can play it back WAY TOO LOUD, and even blow the poor speaker out.

=====================================================

so, you place the battery powered cassette tape recorder in the graveyard, with the volums knob ALL the way down... and you let it record until it runs out of tape. AT night, usually.

you come back, and now play it back, with teh volume knob ALL THE WAY UP... theres no need to go thru a technical description of what a "signal level" and a "dB of amplification" upon play back is? We all understand intuitively what is going on, eh?

so... you turn up the volume on your recording of basically *nothing*. The TAPE HISS is now super loud. You get a great deal of what is technically called "white noise". Its just random electrons... its the audio recording equivalent, of knowing that a smooth machined surface, no matter HOW SMOOTH? if you magnify it enough, it looks like the surface of the moon?

and the "flat line" of a "nothing" sound recording? if amplified high enough upon playback? is kinda the same thing... you get really loud WHITE NOISE (and tape hiss, and a tiny amount of what is called "wow" and "flutter", and even some "capstan noise" annd some electrical and mechanical "whine".

=====================================================

heres where the ghostbusters get all retarded?

they hear, sometimes, "voices", soft ones, upon turning the volume UP UP UP during playback.

gee? really? to a HAM RADIO GUY, that is called interference! Its an "unwanted signal". You are recording mostly "nothing", an intended "null recording".

yes, you will get the occasional bit of STRAY RADIO SIGNAL bopping in and out for brief periods. Yes, you will SOMEtimes catch a few snippets of words you can argue about what was exactly said. They TAKE these snippets, and hold them out for "spirit voices" that have somehow "imprinted" themselves upon the recording directly.

because, ghosts have "something as yet unnproven" slightly electrical about them.

====================================================

i listened for fun? I heard voices, in short bursts... couple words here and there? barely above the "noise floor"...

"...not strong enough..."

"not powerful enough..."

" (garble garble) trying to... get through... cant..."

===================================================

which is, of course... the EXACT sort of things us HAM RADIO GUYS say to each other? when we are trying to make a marginal contact!

why IS IT, that when these FECKtards are trying to play BASS GUITAR, and they hear "mexican taxi cab drivers" (actually? they are peurto rican taxi cabs, lol) come thru their BASS AMLPIFIERS... they intuitively and correctly understand, that its a STRAY SIGNAL.

and understand, if even i some basic laymens fashion, that a piece of equipment is "not shielded properly" and is picking up an unintended signal, and amplifying it?

then the same FECKtards turn up a recording of nothign but white noise, and dont realize its the same thing?

====================================================

i made the mistake, of TRYING to explain, in the most laid-back, most fatherly, most helpful manner possible... what was going on?

good sweet christ, i was made to feel like i was the guy at the concert taking away the big beach ball when the concert starts, LMAO

====================================================

i had this talk with my (ex) old lady... and explained that it was even WORSE, with unfiltered, overpowered, CB transmitters, lol...

i explained that if i fire up a 1000 watt linear amplifier? and i am in an apartment building? that my "near field" is bigger than my apartment, my near field is surrounding several apartments around me... and yes, if i am such a a-hole... i can "modulate" the flourescent tube lights next door... and with enough power? i can do it from QUITE some distace away, like... the next house over...

that you can UNPLUG the flourescent lights? but i am putting out strong enough field density that the lights STILL give off a ghostly glow, and the eerie lights running back and forth thru the tube is MODULATION of my VOICE.

====================================================

the ex old lady, with ZERO electrical and radio experience? her question?

"uhm... even unplugged? you unplug the light and it still goes off? can it do anything else weird like that?"

"well yes honey... we all heard the true story of the one in a million person that has a filling in their TOOTH that just happens to be sitting right, and that the shape of their JAW and HEAD hust HAPPENS to be a decent wave-guide size and shape... and they can now pick up radio stations and hear it in their head?"

"that really happens?"

"Only with AM stations, but yes... really rare but it happens"

I exlpained, that is any conductor is the accidental right length and shape? it will vibrate, potentially giving off voice! not even plugged in! potentially a TOASTER can give off a small voice, if its quiet enough, and some retard close by is using a gigantic enough linear....

her question?

"so... youre saying, that potentially an old lady, for instance? could be put into an insane asylum, for telling everyone her OVEN is TALKING TO HER???"

"well, YEAH... what are the odds that her family doctor is a HAM radio operator? adn knowledgeable enough to ask her if the flourescent lights act funny, even unplugged?"

she asked... "would it tnd to happen only at night?"

"yes honey, it would... we HAMS do a lot mroe work at NIGHT, because the noise floor drops... and we will be "annoying" our neghbors a lot less... and we also do it a lot more in winter, when the air s better for transmitting."

==================================================

apparently, i had just explained a relative of a friend, who had been locked up som years ago, as this went on "every winter", and the doctor thought she was nuts

===================================================

of course, i am a "non believer" even when i am presented with such "compelling evidence" as a stray signal on an unshelded old tape recorder, picking up a HAM phrase like "not pwoerful enough... to... get THRU..."

idiots.

i inherited whats called a "spirit speaker" informally? from a now-dead ham?

LMAO...

it was used in WWII (old HAMS have a lot of old surplus goodies) and what it was FOR, was a speaker type coil? that is made to vibrate a small table... and you hear a soft voice for a portable radio transceiver, LMAO...

the "voice" seems to come from evereywhere, and nowhere, very soft but clearly audible i the small room... LMAO

they were used as a portable "backup" speaker fr communications, as tramping aruond a battlefield with a radio communication system, the speaker is likely to get hurt, this is a bulletproof (pun not intended) backup system to communicate.

==================================================

you will NEVER, repeat NEVER... get any HAM even a BAD ONE... to believe in "spirit tape recordings", lol... stray signals are no MYSTERY to us...

but... for these FECKtards, who are being so "scientific"? I dont expect HAM radio competency, i just expect them to realize that their BASS AMPLIFIER they hear mexican taxi cabs on now and then? is whats going on with thee unshielded tape recorder turned up.

===================================================

i can tell you a lot of true stories, about "weird stuff" that has to do with perfectly normal and explainable electrical phenomenon... always attributed to "ghosts" by easily scared laymen... with weak minds that are gullible...
Well, I understand that, boys... but see, my CAT gets the silly idea you're making fun of HIM... then he gets, *really* mean...
