I think you'll find he's koi'd right up at the moment. Lots of babies to see to.

When he tells me about them it sounds like there's a lot of work involved, but very rewarding.

Goldfish from the fairground or 'rag and bone man', in exchange for an armful of old clothes, was always my limit. My short attention span invariably meant that the poor fish ended up being flushed down the toilet.

As an aside, who remembers rag and bone men? Was it just a northern phenomenon?

We used to have them down here when i was a kid , they would drive down the road slowly while ringing a bell and shouting inverrrr (or thats what it sounded like) and also an old boy on a push bike that used to come round sharpening knives and scissors for you with an old grindstone he had fitted to his bike , that brings back good memories of better times.

DRIVE? Horse and cart here mate. Did the 'knife sharpener on the bike' bloke though.
