hi, another new member saying hello  living in the sticks near Callington in Cornwall and have been a member of another shooting forum for a few years now but never really had much interest in night vision equipment... until now! a simple torch strapped to the scope seemed to work ok in most cases.

anyway my interest started when i dug out a few bits i thought may be of use to other members on the other forum, a 50mm lens and a 25mm eyepiece from a telescope. thing is the more i looked into it the more interested i got... a few days later and i've ordered a P8079HP gen 1 cascade image intensifier tube... a couple days later it turns up in the post and im wandering what the heck am i going to do with it?

of course im dying to test it out, the last NV scope i had about 12 years ago was a little uninspiring 1st gen helios hand held thing. anyways i spent the afternoon bodging myself a scope and there it was! my first D.I.Y NV scope... a bit rough round the edges but then its just a quick knock up to test and i will make a better job of it later when i can source some pipe and other bits

first use and i was amazed! i since learnt that the tube i bought though gen 1 is a cascading type so the light amplification is much higher than my old gen 1 helios. im going to be using it to spot game when hunting but will be having a go at an nv set up for my rifle scope later

anyway my first post here... will see if i can upload pics of my humble first nv bodge!

Welcome Mark

I want to warn you now, your bug could/may/will probably become an addiction once you come to the dark side!
Those cascade tubes are amazing for their price and performance.
