As some of you know, I think so much more can be done with compact P60 torches for the shooter. I've got plenty of ideas in my head but trying to convey my thoughts to a metal turner ain't my strongest point. Getting Micro component stuff done is almost like asking for gold dust and then firms understandably need very good money for their time invested in piddling little project ideas.
Finding somebody who understands the flexibility and appeal of P60 size torches is also proving difficult.

I'm looking for something that is capable of turning/parting/drilling anything from say a 6mm diameter ferrule to a one piece combined and modified back focal length heatsink 'pill/spacer drop-in module, so maybe 30mm or so max. An ability to plonk it onto a worktop for occasional use is also very useful.

Ha ha.

The same LED's are in the P60 module as used in much larger and heavier torches. I'm very pleased people have found a way to capture the best part of the light from it - but there must be more compact and lighter ways of grabbing it - just a matter of time my friends.

Persevere and conquer is somewhere within me on this subject. All in our family are very stubborn and the most stubborn one of us owns a marine electronics factory, an ariel filming business with two manned helicopters, unmanned ones, a landing pad and hangar overlooking Plymouth Sound. lol.

And yes he has cnc kit and lathes... electronic components and knowledge to dream of, chemical coating and powder coating rooms yada yada.... unfortunately its all over 200 miles away from me. He also shoots even, but isn't interested in NV, damn pity about that.

I might have to move back down that way.

I'm don't get on with the search function on here very well, I know you were involved in a discussion about small lathes George but I cant find it in search.

It's 180mm over the bed and has a three inch chuck with 300mm between centres.

Does much more than I'm capable of. Wouldn't like to try big stuff on it though. There again, that's not what it's designed for.

I've reversed the jaws and had a flashlight head in there with a diameter of 60mm.

Ah, perhaps a smaller one would be sufficient for my uber modest needs, budget and times it gets any use. Anyone know if they can be hired?

just bought a mj 189 last week, which is basically the same as the unimat 4, but havn't had chance to try it out yet,i

think im right in saying it will turn 24mm and 50 mm if you reverse the jaws
